AMA safety code has useful guidelines.

Very reasonable guidelines. Model airplane buffs tend to be pretty serious about their hobby and most don't get their planes by clicking a button on Amazon at spur of the moment. I wonder how many recreational drone operators will observe the "not under the influence of alcohol" guideline. Probably as many as observe the no drinking while driving rules at a big wheel mud truck convention. Hold my beer, watch this....

I think Texas has a great privacy law regarding drone image capturing. Neither you or the author of the article must have read the Bill (HB912). There is no "section 38". There are exemptions but they all seem reasonable to me. I especially like the $5,000/$10,000 penalty that I'm allowed to collect from those that have ignored my right to privacy or have shared images of me or my property. //

What if Google's next iteration of Street View includes a drone flying at 501ft???

I'm sure I would too. It just irks me that just because someone chooses to blow $1000+ on a toy they think their rights are more important than my rights to privacy. I wonder how they would feel if someone walked around their yard with a camera and took pictures of everything going on at their house? What's the difference?

What makes the Texas law appealing is the penalty made available to the property owner. Rather than having to file suit in county, district or federal court for various infractions, a property owner can file in small claims court to retrieve the compensation. The burden of proof in SCC is "more likely than not" rather than strict rules of evidence.

Since they purport they own "no air space" they could not claim trespassing.

And if you are one to think technology and innovation will not allow 'anyone' to see/hear etc. more than one can now... and/or you have a problem with it... better go underground and, good luck!
