The cats got a 1/4 pound of catnip and a bunch of new toys. I got a 3D picture of a bunch of kittens, depending on where you look at them from their eyes seem to follow you.

As Terry said, Christmas is for kids. I get what I need at the time I need it. The wife did give me a better camera so that I could take better pictures of the grandkids = more work

I actually got a lump of coal from one of my kids, we always teased them growing up that was what they were going to get.

Not a good Christmas for me. I got to spend it with my family, which is good, but without my Dad who died about 3 weeks ago.

Sorry to bum up the thread.

Sorry to hear about your Father. That is a hard loss as I went through that 2 years ago.

Hey OP, sorry to hear of your loss, especially being so close to a time of year that other people just 'expect' everyone to be happy. It's a holiday that is depressing to many who have a void now that seemingly can't be filled. Time heals and I pray your healing comes sooner rather than later. Best Wishes for a better new year.

oldpilgrim,

I walked that valley almost 25 years ago. I won't pretend to have the answers. Everyone is different.
Seems that it's a bittersweet time each year when the holiday rolls around. (mine died just before Easter)
You don't ever stop missing him.

What did Santa bring you?
My children gave pair of Weather Tech mudflaps for the dually.
Of course, I had to find the ones I wanted on the web, order them, and pay for them myself. I'll probably even get to install them myself. But, hey, it's the thought that counts, right? :D

thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

I guess I shouldn't have posted that as it sorta derailed the original question from the OP.

EVERYONE, please respond to the original thread question.

Thanks to you all.

I got some books on bbq techniques and recipes and a really nice safety jacket and safety gloves to use on the Massey during dark or bad visibility conditions.

But Santas best gift was the "opportunity" for me to spend the months of july thru october hauling everything out of my parents home to storage. Why was that so good? My Mom passed away just before thanksgiving a year ago. Everyone told me to find a few things and dumpster the rest.

But as my posts often show . . I'm a bit of a bulldog when I get an idea or opinion . . and I thought santa might have a better idea than a dumpster. So this hauling and now sorting is intended to give others what my parents gave me . . .a chance to give to people who ask for nothing and give much . . . a 32 inch tube tv to someone's grandma who had none. Dress clothes and work clothes and boots and shoes to those who have less yet don't take from the gov't. Repurposing and reusing. Santa provided a looooooot of "stuff" that I'll try to find a new home for to simple people to benefit from. Its a dumb idea of mine that's taking alot of effort but Santa's magic is turning "apparent junk" into simple gifts on simple people's wishlists . . one day at a time.

And like I mentioned in the beginning . . I got some nice gifts for me too.
