And chains.
And cables.
And steel bars.

YIKES! Thermite in a hand-held.

Locks that can be opened in that manner with a thin piece of aluminum from a popcan can also be opened easily with a simple blow from the side with a hammer. I have done it. But not all padlocks can be opened in this manner. But many can.

As for the thermite breaching tool, it is fast, but expensive. My battery powered angle grinder with a cut off wheel is almost as fast, and makes a heck of a lot less flames, and is way cheaper to operate. It does make a fair amount of noise, but since I am not trying to be quiet when I am cutting steel I don't care.

Your battery operated angle grinder looses many "cool" points to the thermite torch.

I'm sure that is too expensive for the average thief. A cordless grinder is equally as effective against padlocks and cable.

Definitely more handy than the stuff I used in the seventies.

Collateral damage, though. I like the idea of using it on a home invader to tell me where their pals live...

I wonder if it would be a good kitchen utensil. I can't open a package of crackers or a bottle of syrup any more.

I think if you use it on a home invader, he ain't gonna be able to tell you where his pals live....

I wonder if that is a "restricted ownership" tool? I worked for a company where we used 38 caliber blanks in a "pin set tool". I know the company had to secure a permit to purchase and use it. That thing could drive a pin right thru the top of an I-beam.

I used to work with locks of all kinds during the course of my 37 year career...one of my favorite sayings is "Locks mainly keep honest people honest" because there will never be a security method someone will not try (and succeed) to breach.
