80F and sunny @ 12:00 ...

So far behind on this thread I dunno know if I'll ever get caught up ...

Pulled about 8 - 10 pallets of stuff out of the polebarn yesterday, along with the hay wagon and backhoe, as there was no rain in the foreseeable future, and got all the screened fill I had in there spread out and leveled. Still need more fill.

Of course, the forecast has now changed and they are calling for thunderstorms late tonight into tomorrow ...

The rods on the backhoe bucket curl cylinder and one of the stabilizer cylinders were pitted with some rust, so I had to spend around an hour cleaning those up with some fine sandpaper before I could move the cylinders and mount the thing. Probably will have to check into getting them re-chromed.

A couple of days ago I managed to puncture the right front tire on the Kubota while trying to help my young neighbor free Grandpa's Gator that he'd gotten stuck. It was a good-sized piece of wood that I ran over that did it ... created a tear almost two inches long. These were the original R-4's (15 years old) and the tread was pretty worn down and the tires had a lot of cracks in between the tread ribs ... so I went ahead and replaced both front tires ... almost $300 (ouch) Oh well, needed to be done.

On a more positive note, a TBN friend who has an HVAC business called and said they were going to install a furnace for a customer to replace his oil furnace and wanted to know if I wanted the fuel that was still in the tank. Told him I'd take the (free) fuel and the tank. Said there's around 140 gallons still in the tank :D

Today was supposed to be the day that we tried to remove and transplant some oaks that are growing right next to the house. Hafta see how that goes. Woman is heading out right now with a friend to do some grocery shopping.

Might try and get the trench dug for the downspout drain on the northwest corner of the garage. Before I do the rodeo on moving everything back into the polebarn.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive weekend.

What's the status on your furnace saga? Did you get it fixed or replaced?

A late Good Morning. 72°F and over an inch of rain since midnight.
International just came back. Got email that power line was down on the highway, but don't know cause. Suspect that is what took out both my cell and internet.
Still raining, so expecting a somewhat laid back day, most likely involve granddaughter in something, perhaps in the kitchen.
Wife took her off to church for another experience, doubt she has been in one with her parents since baptized.

Very nice gathering yesterday for the kids going off to college, portends well for our future.

Be safe
Have a great day

That looks more like a barge than a boat. :) Those front lounge chairs look comfy. Sodamo, I promise not to tell anyone that my buddy in Hawaii uses his heated seats in his SUV. It was 105 today in Victoria Texas. Don, I don't know if we got any rain here or not. Can't really tell anything like the gravel road being freshened up after a good rain, erasing the tire tracks.

Mahalo :)

73 going up to low 90's in high humidity. Yuk. Houseguests just left for PA, all I have planned today is watering trees and chilling out. The impact of my three 4-5 ton a/c units just arrived with a $498 electric bill. Groan, jumped 200 from the month before. one more month of this and things will slowly cool off here; these nights when it doesn't get below 75 means the a/c runs quite a bit. Now that guests are gone, up goes the thermostat a degree or two. My last two guests kept their homes at 72-73 and I was surprised it wasn't higher. Mine is set at 74, 75 in part of the house at night, with lots of ceiling and a few floor fans helping out. I can't imagine what it would be like here at 105 like Texas. The a/c units for this house must have been sized for serious heat because I actually have several tons too much capacity, technically for a 3500 sf house. Electric bills like this sure make me think of where I can put some more insulation in.

Drew, have you looked into grid tie solar?

Quiet day here. Sharon took Sira to tracking training. I goofed off. My finger isn't ready for ambitious work yet.

Opened the hood on the Forester and got familiar with where stuff is. Pretty clean layout all in all. It uses Mobil-1 0W-20; the oil filter is about the size of the filter on my lawmower. :) 6,000 mile oil & filter change interval. 5 qt. capacity IIRC.

Drew, a home energy audit would be worth the cost perhaps. Upgrade the attic insulation for sure if it's below R-50 and R-60 would be better. You are cooling quite a bit of space plus your wood shop AC. Are you cooling the crawl space or de-humidifier? Neither is easy on the electric bill.

Sodamo, 8' of rain! Glad you are enjoying your grandchild time.

When you were there did you look at how you would change the spark plugs ??
I've got a 02 twin-turbo Legacy wagon (M) with 210k ks on it. Apart from regular maintenance the only problem was a bearing on the back of the gearbox went out. Still goes like a scalded cat but I don't change the plugs as often as I should.
