Roy, good to hear you made it through the audit. The company I worked for had only 2 minors one time seems like average was about 4.

We got four minor and one OFI (opportunity for improvement..a real euphemism for "we shoulda wrote you up, but we took pity..".I can't say I had any complaints..the QMS was for a GKN facility in Ohio and we are satellite facilities stuck with their procedures...which don't fit our way of doing business. That's a big problem with multi-site registrations.
Anyway, it's over...

65F with some clouds @ 05:00 ... heading up to a high of 83F with plenty of sun.

Just finished up servicing the right side hydro pump/motor for the Simplicity. Woodruff key is welded to the shaft and excess weld removed to allow the slotted sprocket hub to slide on ... used a thin cut-off wheel and some small stones in my nephews Dremel to clean it up. Sprocket hub fits good and tight, with no slop.

The hydraulic fluid that I drained out was pretty black ... refilled with TSC Premium hydraulic fluid and worked all the air out by rotating the pulley on the pump side. Still have to pick up a couple of new external snap rings and a new belt.

Got the mangled deck boot for the Trac Vac straightened out and welded back together.

Also have the medium Flo-Jet carb for the 8hp Briggs from the Trac Vac disassembled and cleaned. Looks like the high speed needle may be a large part of the problem ... was pretty worn and had a groove in it.

Would have had it rebuilt by now, except I got the wrong overhaul kit from the local Briggs dealer, due to Briggs' listing being wrong about which carburetor (3 screw body vs 4 screw) was being used for my engine, based on the engine's date code. Good news is that the correct kit is half the price ($23 vs $45) Will run down there and pick up the correct one as soon as they open @ 08:00, along with a few other things that need replaced.

Will probably go ahead and pull the cylinder head and clean the carbon off it, along with changing the oil and servicing the air filter, while I'm into it.

Nice, solid rocks can be worth something, even here, but not unless they are on a truck and delivered. In NW Ohio rocks of any size were scarce. If someone finds one they are so proud of it, they will put it in the middle of the front yard. Paint it maybe, or put flowers or a flagpole next to it.

We have erratics here. The colonial era powder house here in town was built on top of an erratic boulder. The powder house is where the local militia group stored their black powder supply. Probably not something you would want in your small log cabin with an open hearth fireplace burning year-round.

I put up the Japanese beetle traps today, the little devils are out now with the hot weather. There are lots of what I think are Rusty Patched Bumble Bees here this year, not sure because they are supposedly in serious decline. The asparagus bed is in pollen now and it hums with them. I've seen quite a few on the White Dutch Clover too.

I have a DR pull behind and it's just a joke working with my long rows of fencing. I can weedeat it much better the old fashioned way. Since I was only cutting grass I bought their lightweight model and it sure must be puny compared to that 8 line unit.

Was thinking of getting a pull behind string trimmer. So not very practical?

Good Evening. 2345, clear, 81F with 89% humidity. Our high today was 97F, and the forecast low for tonight is 75F with 10% chance of rain. Today was the hottest day of the summer so far. I spent the middle part of the day at work {in the office}, so I don't know how hot it felt, but we are still under a Heat Advisory, and it's fast approaching midnight. Tomorrow is due for more of the same. I got out before work and picked a bucket of corn, and soaked my shirt through in just a few minutes.

Congratulation to Kyle Bush for his win at Kentucky. It's his 2nd win this year. But because of missing races due to his broken leg early in the season, he is not in the top 30 in points, so he may miss the Chase. I'm not a huge Shrub fan, but I wouldn't mind seeing him make it.

Cloudy and warm, very pleasant day to sit outside and read a book. Perhaps I can persuade myself it's time to take a half day holiday.

I have followed the Tour De France cycling race ever since it came on our mainstream tv ( and before that in the "Cycling Weekly" paper - I used to be cycling mad, until my left knee lost interest and decided to complain each time I pushed on a pedal). The views of the European countryside are often wonderful too, with occasional aerial shots of field artwork, such as a giant bicycle beautifully crafted out of circles and lines in the standing corn crops.

While I was watching the highlight program yesterday, it made me think of Dave1949 and his determination to spend the rest of his life picking rocks. Made be wonder, is he only reclaiming a field, or is there instead another secret master plan. Do you think he could be arranging all those rocks into a huge sculpture, only visible from the air ? A giant tractor perhaps ?

wngsprd, except for a night that did not drop out of the 70's we have had temperatures in the 50 and 60's at night. Plus house is well insulated. Did check AC yesterday. It works. Looks like it will be needed this week.
txdon, my speeds are 93 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload on fiber optics. I have a repeater router on back porch. That gets 7Mbps download and 2Mbps upload. Works good when I and working in garage or barn.
Larro, thanks for the NASCAR update. Candyman is not one of my favorite drivers. But it may be worth watching the recording.
