Though Dave...you dump raw manure into the bed of your pickup?
what does that smell like on a hot summer day?
unlikely to be your go to dinner truck...:D

Got four NH T4.75 loader buckets full. Looks decent enough but needs to compost for a good while yet.

Drew, this is real truck , no chrome tip on the exhaust. I just finished hosing it out. The dump hoist takes the work out of it but manure doesn't slide out clean on a wood bed.

I dithered a lot over an 8' metal dump bed or what I ended up choosing, a 12' wooden bed with rack sides. I filled the rack side gaps with treated 1x6. A guy really needs about three trucks. :D

Back in my river-rat days I was tubing down the Chipola River and we pulled up and cut through the woods to pick a few melons from our patch. On the way back I stepped on a Canebrake rattler in my bare feet, with a melon under each arm. If there had been an Olympic event for standing broad jump carrying two melons, I would have won gold that day. Even though the snake didn't bite me, I killed him anyway, because he scared me so bad. Aren't the Canebrake and Timber rattlers the same thing? That one was the only one I have ever seen around here.

About 90% of snakebites occur on the hands or feet, with 65% on the hands or arms, and 24% on feet or legs. 70-80% of snakebites are to men, with a high correlation to alcohol consumption. Read that as drunk guys trying to pick up snakes. The others are stepping on or kicking snakes. With that said, I have had cottonmouth's chase me through the swamp.

On average 10 people die a year {in this country} from snakebite, while 40 die from bee stings. Now where can I buy one of those bee keeper suits?????

75F and mostly cloudy @ 13:25 ... just woke up ...

Managed to get the carb for the Lawnboy mower disassembled and cleaned out after I posted last night. It hasn't been run for probably 10 years ... the bowl was filled with something that resembled, and pretty much had the consistency of, maple syrup. Still need to pull the plug and get some fresh gas for premix ... be interesting to see if fires right up ...

Had a couple of rumbles of thunder and brief showers overnight ... which is good: we needed the rain and it should make weed pulling a little easier.

The 'Cake just left to do grocery shopping.

... RS I would choose grading that out a bit where the retaining wall was and call it good. From the pick it doesn't look like a retainer is really needed. One less thing to mow and trim around. :)
I'm likin' your take on it ... it would be much less involved, in terms of time and effort than rebuilding a wall there, and the amount of additional mowing will be insignificant in the big scheme of things.

And it's not like I have any shortage of other things to do ... ;)

Glad to hear your back isn't bothering you any further

... RS, lots of work for the tractor.
Yup ... :D

Place looks nice.
Thanks ... it's coming along.

The house actually doesn't look too bad in those pictures ... despite the fact that it hasn't been stained in probably close to 20 years. Probably because that side was shielded from the sun quite a bit by the trees. The south facing side is considerably more weathered tho' ...

Hope ya catch a break with the rain for your mowing.

... rswyan, my first house had juniper stumps all across the front of it, right next to the foundation. A friend was driving a tow truck at the time, and stopped by to help pull them. They popped right out, but a nosy neighbor called the truck's owner, and it cost my friend his job.
Ouch ...

So if you have a friend with a tow truck, make sure that stump of yours can't be seen from the street ;)
LOL ...

Yeah ... I imagine it will be just me and the 'bota ... ;)

Everything's so lush and green around your property, just beautiful!
Thanks ...

I think it has to do with the weather this spring: we had some decent precipitation followed by a period (couple weeks ?) of unusually warm weather ... seemed to make everything take off.

The tulips, daffodils, redbuds, hawthorns, and dogwoods have just finished blooming, the azaleas are in full swing, and the rhododendrons are about to pop.

Good luck on squirtin' your loader ... and remember: pics or it didn't happen :D

Good afternoon all. 67F this morning, rain in forecast again, breezy and overcast. 1 inch of rain over the last two days. No runoff to speak of, the creek is still crystal clear. Working on finding and moving stepson's "stuff"

Good Afternoon everyone. Cloudy and 53 here on the coast today. Spent my first day of retirement hauling my old shed to the dump to make room for a new garage. Also got the gutters cleaned out for the year we are ready!!
