Mahindra Quality

So I am looking at all types of tractors including a max 24. I know very little about Mahindra and I am curious as to the quality of these tractors. While visiting a local dealer I noticed some rust on the new tractors (max25, and 22) and apparent sun fading on the plastics. To be honest for a new tractor, They weren't pretty. This is making me take a little pause. I am not finding the Mahindra to the inexpensive choice. They seem to command a lot of money, yet for some reason seem a little cheap to me. Am I over looking anything thing? Are these tractors worth the dollar?

Test drive all you can get your hands on see what fits you the best then if it has rust and fading try and make a deal worth some $ off IMO. Mahindra makes as good of tractor as anyone else.

Those faded plastics wont keep it from doing work... the max series is top notch. Check out youtube videos customers put up with them... Max gets amazing feedback. Goodluck

I don't know about the Max, but my brother just picked up a grapple at our local dealer and noticed all the Mahindras were gone now only LS and Gehl equipment. The dealer said he dropped them because of too many repairs and customer complaints. He was a dealer or several years and the only one in our area, so Mahindra owners are now out of luck for repairs and parts. My brother considered buying one last yer an is sure glad he didn't.

I looked at the Max when I was looking for a small machine and personally noticed the same things that were noted and it just didn't seem very polished. I also have a friend that purchased one and had a lot of problems so I just stuck with Kubota. Not saying they are junk or anything like that but it was just not for me.

I wanted an orange for years and looked at them. did my research and bought a mahindra max 25. just beat the orange all the way around. I am pleased with my machine so far - have 28 hrs on it since late Fall. will put many more on this season starting again this weekend. also pushed some serious snow a couple of times too.
Many reviews are **** good from what i have seen and read.

They are as good or better than allthe other makes...none of them are perfect. You wont have any regrets with a Mahindra.

Depends somewhat on if you are looking at TYM manufactured models or Mitsubishi manufactured models.

I have about 55 hours on a Max 28XL and have been very pleased so far. No issues to date. As with all manufactures, there will be some unhappy folks out there. By and large however, I think most Mahindra owners are happy with their purchase, especially with some extra coin in their pocket from not choosing orange or green.

Keeping in mind that those with problems will post on forums more than those who are problem free, do a search on your proposed brand with the additional word <trouble> and <problem> and <customer service>. Do the same for the model as well. Weight negative reviews carefully, as most will be honest, though some will be more than a little PO'd and will be dissing their chosen brand for all they're worth.

Mahindral Fit and finish, genreal engineering thought and effort is ok, but not great.

I have a 1884 Kubota that I'm selling to offset my new Max28.
I do not think the Max would survive what the Kubota was put through without haveing a major issue along the way, but I do not think I'll be playing farmer in 30 years, so if gives + 10 years of good service I'm ok with that.
I also wonder if the newer Kubotas are as carefully built as the 1980, 90's and early 2000 models were?

You were right to pause. Your first impression is correct also. No, you are not overlooking a thing, you have a sharp eye to see things wrong with new tractors. If thats what new look like without use what will they look like after 1000 hours use.

I was at a county fair some years back and there were Mahindra tractors for sale, as I looked at them I noticed they looked like something I had at home, not all of them but a couple did. The more I looked, then sat on one it hit me. I had a 1996 Cub Cadet 7275 at home and I was sitting on a Mahindra copy, it was just red. If you look at the pictures anyone can see they are the same tractor. The Cub is older, the Mahindra is newer. I asked the salesman what was up and he said I was wrong and that I just think they are the same. I didn't want hear his $h!t and left. When I got home I got on the net and google imaged both tractors I was right, then I check part numbers and they both had the same part number for tons of parts, all the parts that make up almost the whole tractor. Now I'm not saying either tractor is no good, I have had good luck with my wifes Cub, but why buy a rerun copy knockoff for way more money and a red paint job. I see they have updated their look, but are they new or just high priced knockoffs. Look at the two links and tell me they are not the same tractor. Just my two cents.

Just a quick question? Who built your Cub Cadet? Then ask yourself where was that Mahindra built? I personally don't care what anything "looks" like...I care what it can do for me. As the Food Lion would say.. "Just my 2 cents" BobG in VA

Just a quick answer.
Mitsubishi builds them both. But when I ask a dealer a question and get lied to, why ???? I never said they both were not good tractors, but I have to say the Mahindra is a rerun because it is. Just my 2 cents and then some.

I believe several of the 7000 series Cub Cadets were built by Mitsubishi.
The Mahindra 15 and 16 series are Mitsubishi.

I agree Mahindra fit and finish is not as good as what you'd see from Deere or Kubota, but they seem to be solid tractors and everyone I know with a Mahindra has been happy. A little extra polish and attention to detail would certainly help elevate the brand a bit, especially to serious shoppers.

Those are pictures of two tractors, alright!

Mahindra Tractors started in 1963 as a joint venture with International Harvester. They now own Jaingling and acquired several other Indian manufacturers. They sell TYM and Mitsubishi manufactured tractors under their name in the US and assemble the larger ones here.

Cub Cadet was also started by International Harvester. MTD purchased them in 1981. MTD had a partnership with Yanmar and Acquired LESCO.

So while an old Mahindra and an old Cub Cadet shared IH DNA, new ones are very unlikely to have any. But a Cub Cadet, MTD and Yard Machines are likely to be similar if not identical. So one could today ask, "why buy a rerun copy knockoff for way more money and a yellow paint job?"

I am enjoying my Mahindra 3016 made by Mitsubishi! To be honest, they met the need I had at the best price I could find. Our local large farm supported dealer carries them and that said a lot to me. We live in a global market today and I think Mahindra is doing a great job. If I can get a tractor with the options I wanted like the Weight, mid PTO option, positioning 3 point, SSQA and the most lifting capacity in the class I could afford, I am ok getting out my tractor supply black and touching up rust on the cast IRON if it shows up. I can tell you that I had some scratches on a side panel when I bought it and it only took a week and I had a new one...delivered to my house. The week prior to buying this I was at my local dealership that carries a more established brand and he looked down on me for wanting a 30HP tractor when I only had a couple acres...I could feel it and you know what I mean.. What I found that it's a package deal, the purchase experience, the dealer, the tractor....My son and I box bladed the driveway tonight and I smiled the whole time! The Kaboda, came in 2nd, but I wanted
Wider than a "B" for safety on hills and the "L" was just too much money for me.

Mahindra sells more tractors than any other mfg in the world. They are number 3 in the US.

How did they do that if they're just cheap knock offs of other other brands?

I'm very interested in your antique 1884 Kubota!! That treasure has to be one of the first tractors ever . . . and, unless it's steam powered, may very well have one of the first internal combustion engines from way before anyone knew they were even invented!

Edit . . . oops, I guess I showed my ignorance, the first practical internal combustion engine was invented in 1859. Oh well, deduct a couple hundred off your asking price.
