Alco Bankrupt - Clearing Stores including fixtures!

I meant to make a thread about this a while ago, but Alco is going out of business. All of the stores are supposed to be liquidated. The reason why I'm posting this is because the fixtures are also being sold. I think some of you out there might be interested in buying some of that kind of stuff for your shops and garages. Pallet racking, shelves, carts, etc. would be useful.

I picked up a pallet jack and a stocking cart at my local Alco. The stocking cart is going to be converted into a panel cart for moving OSB, plywood, 2x4s, etc.

Never heard of Alco. Is it a regional company?

That's too bad. We just found one of their stores about 2 years ago. Its on our way to and from where our child attends college. Then we found another one about 30 miles away from here. Darn! Lots of variety of stuff. Fun to browse around. However, it wasn't always good quality stuff... but good enough if you needed it. They reminded me of a higher quality salvage store. Always nice a clean and very friendly people working there. That's too bad. :thumbdown:

I'm not sure how far they are spread. I remember the paper saying around 200 stores were going to close.

I've never been that big of a fan of Alco. Their prices aren't that competitive to Wally and thier selection isn't very good.

I thought ALCO was bankrupt years ago. Have not seen a store around here in over 20 years.
