39F and cloudy @ 05:30 ...
High today is only supposed to be 41F ... dunno ... could be we've already hit it.
Worked on the ballast block night before last ... got the form built around the frame/rebar cage and got it all enclosed. Should have stopped there and saved the pour for another day/night (one where the weather was bad) ... but
nooooo ...
he just had to keep going ...
The result was I lost the last decent day weather-wise to get anything done outside ... which was kinda stupid.
Oh well ... I've come to the conclusion that it never all gets done anyways ... so why sweat it ?
Mixing 15 bags of 'crete, shoveling it into the form, and then getting the air pockets and bubbles out of it probably took around 8 or 9 hours ...
I started mixing around 03:00 and by the time I was done I could barely walk ... my lower back was killin' me ... somewhat better after a good night's sleep but it's still pretty sore.
Used a couple of pieces of bar stock and a needle scaler as a vibrator ... worked pretty good to consolidate the 'crete and pull up the air bubbles ...
I did manage to make a real mess tho' ...
Will have to build a fire starting tonight and keep it going for the next several days to keep it from freezing.
Hope everyone has a productive day.
