boss man said no problem; would be fixed on Monday
so I thought I was all set for a quiet Saturday afternoon.
Wrong.
The insulation removal people show up. Ok.
knock, knock
Sir, mr, leetel problem with leak, uh we pull insulation and pipe break.
water running all over.
just lovely.
I turn off the main house water turn off.
The water continues unabated.
I really would like to figuratively strangle the original plumber for this place.
So out to the road I go and get the main valve turned off without breaking it off.
the water stops. One thing for sure, everything goes through that meter...
plumber called, emergency Saturday afternoon.
wonder what the rates on this will be.
Actually I am looking forward to meeting the plumber,
who is both an electrician and a plumber. A very handy man to know.
He did a pre sale inspection for me but we have never met.
His bill for that work showed up today by email, like karma, and I had a phone number to call for the
water.
this was made more challenging because the insulation guys were all Hispanics and none spoke adequate English. I kept repeating myself and asking him to repeat himself. Groan. Better get used to it. Or learn Spanish.
I couldn't figure out how bad it was until the one guy said the other was holding on to the pipe to keep it from gushing up into the floor above. Ok. That's when I hiked it to the street and turned everything off. one thing for sure, this plumber coming in is going to put shutoffs on everything in sight. But maybe not today at double time...
still intend to get a Netflix movie in later; this pipe break is really small but it's down in that crawl space and I'm just not going down there.
not until they wrap it in plastic and maybe even not then.
Wind is picking up here, cold air is coming in tonight. Might even get the fireplace going tomorrow.
