I now take pictures instead of scanning.
CSA, UL and other approval marks are what keep all of us safe. Counterfeit marks and misuse of marks should land the responsible person or persons in jail. If Everlast Canada sold unapproved welders they should be refunding the full purchase price or replace with an equivalent new approved product. The company officers are responsible for making sure that the product is approved for sale in Canada.

what about my money?

why is Everlast only offering 10-50% and only applying it to purchase of a new machine.

you guys lied to me and you expect me to buy another one?

I would like 100% refund, in cash.

Take this issue up directly with the manufacturer via email, phone and or letter. Making demands here on TBN isn't going to get you a check.

a real quick (and a little off topic) question. How in H E Double Hockey Sticks does the RCMP know you have a welder and it's an Everlast? I doubt even the County Sheriff knows I have a welder, let alone the make & model of it?

As far as Scooby's comment, no, no one has been banned that I know of, and it was just recently posted up in our forum as this is a new release. This is something he is making up. The thread has not been taken down or locked, and is open for further discussion. In fact Duncan at Everlast Canada has just returned from the factory and is addressing this since he was at the factory during the release. As usual flaming the thread though. that page is not publicly viewable, says I need to sign in.

Excuse the ignorance, but what is the RCMP? Must be a Canadian thing?

Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the same guys who I watched harass a 12 year old for 6 hours for "stealing" debris from a beach in Canada

[QUOTEMark @ Everlast;3796935]This affects a limited number of Canadian customers...from 2010-2012 I believe, and all affected customers were sent letters. Actually rjmack, I am glad you posted this. I'll forward a release from Everlast Canada when I get it. It should outline that things as well, and a good point to show that things change as we and they have grown. As far as the dangers, anyone can get shocked from a welder...I know I have from all the brands. I haven't seen the letter myself, so can't comment on any specific comments. Everlast Canada is committed to working with the customer, I do know that.

Canadian laws are different...and it was indeed a production error from the factory that has been rectified. If it were an immediate issue, would it take 2 years for a letter like this to be generated or would it be voluntary? (My thoughts, not an official one)

Possibly Duncan may reply here himself, but they are taking care of things with each customer on a personal level if they want to call in and discuss the issue.[/QUOTE]

Nice attempt at spin there.

Yes people have been banned and information has been deleted. Your own posted link is not accessible to the public.

Now your accusing me of lying? Really? Youre the ones who lied and committed fraud, and are subject of a police investigation and recall because of your proven lies.

A post from another site:
"18 models of plasmas, and welders, bought between Jan 2010, and March 2012. Affects my EX. I don't want to characterize it, but conceptually there are legal problems, safety problems, and economic problems. My guess is that we have legal issues that will cause economic issues for product owners. The health and safety issues are referred to as "potential". To properly prescribe a solution that deals with owner economic issues, the court would have to understand what the real margin is on Chinese product. Because the margin is your gearing to make a solution that makes owners whole and keeps a company around to do that, and the other useful things the company does. I don't think the court understands the economics. And I don't see any evidence they consulted owners before they struck this deal.

Problem is my welder is now conceptually worth zero, and the compensation scheme is not adequate to my way of thinking. Only a few months back I was considering selling the one I have. Now I couldn't do that, ethically at least. Who wants to buy a welder that one was told by the RCMP to toss in the dump.

Cpl David Sutherland, RCMP, is handling the case out of the Milton Office, and the Ontario Provincial Courts in Halton Region seems to have the legal authority. As far as I know this affects all Everlast customers of these 18 models, in Canada, between the dates specified.

(Apparently I can't now post on the Everlast forum.) "

See that last part??? At the time the above post was made, the thread on the neverlast forum was publicly available, so the poster was banned for his post because he could no longer post on the neverlast forum at all.

And this thread on the subject has now been purged from the neverlast site. I read it. It was not a flame thread, just people trying to get info. You should know that, you posted in it. And since you said Duncan "could not access" the forum that means you were likely the one who banned the individual. http://forums.everlastgenerators.com...3832#post53832

This was NOT recent news. It was over 6 days ago that notices started arriving. Neverlast had to be aware of this investigation several months in advance.

You guys are real good at hiding info, Ill give you that. http://forums.everlastgenerators.com...3832#post53832 used to link to a discussion on the recall, but it was locked and invisible based on privileges. Now its completely purged and no longer exists on your server.

I suspect that someone (either an owner or the CSA) asked the RCMP to look into the situation and when the RCMP found that models X, Y and Z in that time period may have had CSA stickers incorrectly applied, they asked Everlast Canada for a list of customers who purchased the affected model. The letter that the OP received is a result of that.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police, from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Canadian_Mounted_Police said:
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) (French: Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC), literally 'Royal Gendarmerie of Canada'; colloquially known as the Mounties, and internally as 'the Force') is both a federal and a national police force of Canada, and one of the most recognized of its kind in the world. It is unique in the world as a national, federal, provincial, and municipal policing body. The RCMP provides policing services to all of Canada at a federal level, and also on a contract basis to the three territories, eight of Canada's provinces (the RCMP does not provide provincial or municipal policing in either Ontario or Quebec), more than 190 municipalities, 184 aboriginal communities, and three international airports.
