I guess I should get a CFM56-7B engine for a shop heater, but not sure how to wire it to my power panel!:confused3::laughing::D

Dennis,
You would need about a ton of cfm from an air tank as big as two of your flat bed trucks to start one.;) I have seen an air tank start a Boeing 707. You only got one shot:smiley_aafz: to lite an engine off, then you take the next 4-5 hours filling the tank again with your air compressor.:muttering:
More better to get an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU).:drink: They can fit in a pickup bed and only take 24 volts:thumbsup: to start. But if you had the APU...........you could start your CFM56-7B.
But your would need to borrow a fire hose to supply fuel.:greedy::greedy::greedy:

19* here in the piney woods this morning. Freezing rain and sleet most of the day yesterday with lots of thunder. We have 2-3 inches accumulation of sleet on top of ice on the roads so it will be a mess when everybody gets up moving around.

I'm suppose to go into Tyler this morning to pick up some stuff. That could get serious. We'll see how that works out. Maybe we can postpone that by a day or so. I'll start checking the road reports, I don't really want to get out there with the crazies.

26 here now. Ice on the deck. The rain stopped just before dipping below freezing.

I just went out to check on the ducklings. I worry the heat light bulb will burn out. I have a tarp over the whole cage/water tub. I have it high enough not to touch the heat light. They are warm and cozy.
Fixin' to go to bed and think warm thoughts.
hugs, Brandi

NWS says it's 15 degrees in Denton, going for a high of 28. And nearly all, if not all, the schools in Dallas and Denton counties are closed today.

It's brutal .. Everyone be safe and keep warm

Ron, that is "T" shirt weather for a northern bird such as your self:laughing: Of course, if you had wanted cold weather, you probably would have stayed home! Sure been an odd year, based on averages.

BTW, bought some Cara Cara oranges for the 1st time at the Azle Walmart, actually pretty good!, didn't realize what I had bought until I peeled one, pink flesh like a Grapefruit. Google say's its and "early variety" Seen any oranges at the stands deep in the RGV?? thought it was too early for Texas though (for oranges)

It's more like.........."Hold short by the heater."
You know it is bad outside:mur: when you get called 3 times for overtime for the Hangar "Remain Over Night" (RON) crew. I figured they had a load of :airplane: at the hangar and somebody was gonna have to work outside in the wet, bone chillin' cold:stormwarning::raincloud::umbrella-guy:, thus I was called once this afternoon, once 5 minutes before the shift started and again 5 minutes after shift started.

I sure hope the ducklings like the cage I am building for them..........as without the cage building, I would not have had an excuse for working overtime!:duh:
FG,
You could always fly with one of those Super Soaker wanter guns full of Propylene Glycol. When you see ice, just slide the canopy back and soak the ice with the "Glycol Gun".
hugs, Brandi

And let all of my warm air out of the cockpit?!?!?! :irked: I'm not that crazy, YET! :confused2:

We often say, "This snow is for the birds."
But they don't like it either, this time of year.

We did see 4 Red Wing Blackbirds this morning, under the feeder, so they have migrated back on time.

A sure sign of spring:)

Those are male and female Cardinals in the first picture with a dove in the middle picture. My sister puts out the black oil seed that really attracts cardinals.

Jinman,
On average how many hours per day do you think you spend in your garden for the season? And how many hours are spent out of the garden canning, blanching, freezing, etc.?

In season we go to the garden every morning. There's a huge amount of time spent early in the season with tilling, weeding, and protecting the young plants from bugs/weather. We can some, but most stuff we blanch and freeze in vacuum bags. I've never kept up with that time, but it's at least 2 to 4 hours per week.

We're iced in and not going anywhere. We lost power around pm, but had the wood stove going so we finished cooking dinner on it. Then lit a bunch of candles and turned on my Makita 18v cordless LED flashlight, which lasted until midnight while we played Spades. It was a lot of fun and now Karen wants us to pretend the power is out more often!!! Temps are still in the teens and it's almost 11 am.

I think there's a little woodpecker right on the feeder in that first picture too. It looks like a downy woodpecker instead of a red-headed woodpecker, but it might be a juvenile red-head.

Eddie, anytime the lady of the house wants to "play pretend" it can get interesting:laughing: I expected to loose power too, but we dodged that one. Still cold and wind chills in the single digits. You folks East of us caught more of the "train" effect.
