Don, that is so true. But it is coming from a guy who lives secluded in the mountains:laughing:

Jim, so now you have asparagus "transplants", may end up with a bigger crop anyway.

You going to plant the whole garden? or just the cool weather stuff? Next Weekend looks good, if we have thawed out by then.

Denis

In my travels on the web today I found this gem that kind of fits in here. It hits home for me as well so please don't feel as though I'm picking on anyone.

Cheers :drink:

Don

Very wise words! Thanks!

BTW, 84 * at the house!! no wonder I'm beat, only 3068# to shovel today.

Saw the police had main street shut down in Weatherford, said there was a FG running around in Daisy dukes and a wife beater top:shocked::rotfl:

Dangit! I knew cutting off those jeans was going to create a problem for someone.....

BTW, I actually got a little tan working in the garden, when I got home, after work! :jump:

Ron, you should join, you have a Phd too right:confused3: I know Jim has one

If you mean which of us can "Pile it Higher and Deeper" I think most folks on this thread have one.:D

Folks is a non-gender term. So you know I'm not leaving the girls out.

FG- Blocking traffic in Weatherford is pretty impressive.......never knew they had Performance Art in Weatherford.

Jim,
Looks like we have another chance for a hard freeze here on Sunday afternoon. I have the dirt in pretty good shape, but I'll till it again before this freeze comes in to help "Sterilize" the soil just one more time, and I hope we get some of the rain that is suppose to be ahead of this front.

Everyone have a good "Texas Independence Day" on Sunday. God Bless Texas and God Bless Sam Houston.

Charlie, I guess you and I need to "get out more"

BTW, they said last time the FG was seen, she was making a left off Main street and had her arms stretched out making some kind of noise , said it sounded like a twin pioneer??:confused3::D

I think you are probably right. But during this Flu season I have tried to maintain a high level of isolation by not leaving the place if I don't have to. I even thought about de-licing the wife when she comes in from work, but she was having none of that. If it's a bad tick year she might be up for me checking her for ticks. You know those little varmits bring all kinds of bad stuff. I think I'll bring up the Tick Alert that I read about.

Native;

I think it was just a novelty, since they don't see me much in the town!

I think I will do my celebrating of Texas Independence Day today! :drink: Tomorrow looks a little cold for sitting outdoors drinking a beer an eating good food. I just have to get things accomplished around here, to make sure that I can handle another week of cold, and some ice to go with it. :banghead: :muttering: :hissyfit:

Brandi,
He was trying to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.........it was the train.(old punch line from an old guy). He was quick of foot enough to avoid the train, however.

He could roll out hose when he leaves the Ranch and just roll it back up to find his way back home. With the amount of hose he has he could roam a very large area.

Charlie

Charlie,
Inbound beacons are trains. Rotating beacons with two different colored lights let you know where the airport. Light houses have one color rotating light.

I think Jim gets them all confused as he is rolling up his hoses to get home.:2cents: I guess old Navy sayings about steer to the light is flaring up in his memeory, like a flashback.:confused3: But the loud horn from the train warns him at the last moment, like the fog horn from the light house. But I have heard about stories of water hoses crossing runways. We can always find him by following the hoses.:)

Had my Echo-cardiogram yesterday afternoon:thumbsup: Doc says the pumper looks great for my age and can see no irregularities. Said the muscle balance was of a 30 year old:thumbsup::thumbsup: Of course he scolded me for smoking over the years, but said for a smoker, my ticker was in better shape than he expected and I should take advantage of it. Was cool watching the valves working LOL Have another check up in 6 months, so in the mean time I will try to work on my diet:thumbdown: He said I have a better than normal diet, I need to cut out allot of fats and sweets and eat more regularly.

They have another test I would like to get done, but since my insurance sucks and out of pocket is now $6500, I have to budget med care for the 1st time. The test measures anticipated plaque build up in the arteries by taking measurements of veins in the neck, then apply s the findings to known #'s of average people. Wish I could remember the name of the test..Don??

Mentally I'm stoked, after moms ordeal, I was a tad concerned since I have abused myself over the years:laughing: Of course the cardiologist said he wouldn't guarantee I don't "drop tomorrow", but said it would be very unlikely.

Cold 20* this morning and I'm am almost ready to go over to FG's side of the fence, I 'm ready for better weather so I ca get back to work!

Dennis,
Glad to hear the good news.

Dad smoked , A LOT, until I was about 6 years old. The day Dad's heart stopped and he was jolted by his pacemaker, I was there to talk to his doctor about Dad having fluid on his lungs and an vague image on his lung X-ray. I think Dad died having lung cancer, but it was his heart stopping that did him in. He was 88 at the time.

Exactly! Don't ever doubt how lucky I know we are. We also get our prescriptions drugs from Express Scripts, which is the TriCare pharmacy. We get 90-day prescriptions filled by them for low cost ($9 to $27 or free generics). Amazingly, that's not my only option. Since I am a service-connected disabled vet, I can get all prescriptions through the VA at no cost if I decide to go that way. Express Scripts is the easier option right now, so we use them. We are blessed to have so many great options and such great coverage.

I have a 74 year old co worker that works two days a week and trades his other two week days a way to another co worker. He has no plans on retiring. I knew before I hired on with SWA just how awesome SWA's insurance is.

My lead mechanic, Ahmed, retired last year. He did retired for his health as he was a constant smoker and drunk Crown Royal like FG runs av gas through her airplanes.............AND a diabetic. He drunk around a bottle a day and more on weekends. Another lead told me this week that Ahmed (age 56) can get cobra insurance for $1400 a month or ocare for $1800 a month. Gosh, after hearing all the talk here, at work, and from Fox, I don't want to retire either!

I certainly do not wish that upon anyone ... OMG I was some kinda sick.

It was in the 70s when I got home from bar-b-q, beer and dancing yesterday, and it was 26* when I got up this morning! It looks like the high for the day was at midnight, or shortly thereafter. I heard the front blow in fully at 0100. Please let this be winter's last stand!
