You should try driving in the Middle East or Africa. They will pass you anywhere, anytime, and rely on a higher being sort things out when they meet. Using the horn is the most developed skill drivers have.. lol

Ya.. lotta peeps in the US/Canada are spoiled when it comes to roads and road width. Shoot, any body ever try to drive in Paris or Rome? LOL

wow.. someone with even worse road planning than the county i live in.

Cars are allowed to cross the dashed lines when passing oncoming traffic at full speed, but when its not required you drive between the lines. When approaching a cyclist with no lights on at 80kmh, you're happy to know that you'll have 90% chance of missing it when you drive between the lines... yes cyclists do that. I did too when i cycled to school... I could hear cars approaching from far away and saw their headlights, and assumed they'd see me as soon as i got in their lightbeam... However it stopped when i got my drivers license and started driving, and allmost hit a cyclist with no lights on from behind because 80kmh is 22 meters per second, you need a second to register and react, and the average lightbeam isnt much more than 20 meter... You just dont realise how serious this is untill you start driving yourself...

Plus it's hard for them to brake with those wooden shoes

I spent two weeks in Athens when my ship {USS Saipan} had to have repairs at the shipyard there. We got to know a girl from Stateside who drove a Trans Am like the one from Smokey and the Bandit. It took up a lane and a half by itself. After one ride with her, I stuck to the subway.

Around here the farm equipment--especially tractors--is so wide, and the roads so narrow that they often cover the entire side roads wider than edge to edge. Guys are running high flotation 4 ft wide duals on big Deere tractors. That's 16 ft of tires plus spacers in the middle and the tractor itself. Side roads are bad enough but main roads a real challenge as well. It's like driving in Italy--without the shaking of the fist and blowing of the horn.

No problem, wooden shoes drive fine in my Volvo, my parents Kia or a Ford Mondeo. Just an old Merc 300D 123W or an econobox have the pedals too close together so you rev like an idiot when humping the brake pedal with the wood boot...
