Good morning, y'all! Another long day at work today, then hopefully will get the lawn mowed and run the weedeater this weekend. Might even get into may largest pasture and finish the work I began there last Sunday.

As jinman and others have stated, we cooled off from the summer heat, so I am picking squash again! I expect to make 6 loaves of zucchini bread, this weekend, as well as freeze zucchini and yellow squash to use in casseroles this winter! I expect another 3 weeks or so of harvest, before a frost ends my sseason.

Y'all have a great Friday!

Good morning FG, TGIF...:) Zucchini huh? You probably have it coming out your ears, your ying yang, your wazoo, and all other acceptable places. Not even sure what they are ,but that of course is not the point. you've got these huge green things and you need to do something with them. Neighbors flee/run in panic when zucchini comes, but seem quite happy to get tomatoes. There's usually just so much of it, very easy to overplant.

boy I'd like a bit of zucchini bread with my coffee. Yum.

daugen; Wish you lived closer. I'd give you a loaf!

As far as too much zucchini, I can always make pickles, and the zucchini bread freezes well, and neighbors like the finished products too. I enjoy tending to the bounty, and putting it up for the winter. Winter without the garden makes a bummer for me. I know it is coming, so just push and enjoy all that I can, for now. (So I can enjoy it again when nothing is growing!)

53 this morning high of 68 later this afternoon no chance of rain today though. Yesterday was cloudy showery and breezy and the rain chased away from working about 11:00. Good Morning all

Never had Zuccini pickles... Hmmm

In past years I've run excess Zuc's through the salad shooter or grater into a ziploc bag, and into the freezer for use in soups, stews, gumbos, etc in the winter. Works great!

Be well,
David

aren't you sweet, just like your zucchini bread:p...but could you warm it up on the hood of your John Deere for that extra something? ;)
I'll be by on Sunday afternoon to get a loaf.
Do you make mini loaves for the beagles?

daugen; I don't make the bread for the Beagles, but I steam some zucchini to add to their food, since they only eat home cooked, none of that packaged, processed stuff.

I don't know if there are any studies on the healthiness of dogs who eat vegetables, but my guess is that you have some
seriously healthy doggies. I was only kidding about the bread; pretty sure sweet stuff is usually not good for dogs.
But for a horse? as a treat?

Steamed zucchini blended into other stuff makes a lot of sense.
My silly reaction was only because I grew up with an utter overload of squash, zucchini and asparagus on the farm.
I have eaten six lifetimes worth of each, already...
But I'd walk a mile for some zucchini bread...;)

we used to take so much squash and zucchini to the local Christ's Home for kids that they finally politely asked us to give them a break...:D

49 right now and a high of 63 predicted...maybe some rain.
Rained last night, so I reckon most of the leaves are down now. If it dries up enough today, reckon I'll get some of the leaves up...
