Jerrybob, I am with you on this, such a load of sad news, and the heart aches of the families and friends of those brave men. I used to go camping in that region back in the early 70's and hated that it was burning and even hate it more of this news.

My son-in-law is a FF. We don't give these guys the credit they deserve. They regularly leave home for a few days at a time not knowing what their next few days/nights will bring. Most of us don't understand that call to duty.

I know a lot of Firemen. They are brave courageous individuals. I really look forward to an explanation of what caused this tragic loss. Something went wrong quickly for such a large number of brave men to have died. Firemen are not given to doing something that is life threatening when involved in fire suppression. In my opinion something got out of control quickly and trapped the men. Was it something management should have seen or anticipated at the time of deployment, time will tell.

I saw the headline this morning. Shocked the heck out of me. Something must have gone bad, fast. Awful.

It takes a certain kind of person to be a firefighter. According to the article they lost radio contact, lost contact before the wind shifted, it sounds like it caught them off guard.
We should fly our flags at halfmast in their honor.
