My brother, now 70 - insisted that my kids call him "Uncle Dude" or Dude. This started with my daughter when she was born in '88. To this day both my kids call him dude and he is proud of that.
I wouldn't call any adult, other than close friends or enemies a name - any name other than sir, ma'am, Mr or Mrs. But, that was the way I brought up.
Now kids or teens, which I relate to very well, will get a pet name or slang response from me, but that's one way that I use to build a relationship with them.
