Fifty-five miles each way, 55 minutes. Eighty percent highway on cruise control at 75 ( I stay out of the fast lane so as to not get run over).

...but only for 2 months and 7 days more! July 1 adios work.

When I was doing it(for 23+ years) it was 65 miles one way each day. When I started I could do it door to door in 45-55 minutes. As the years past and the burbs grew it got longer. I have had occasion to drive into the city for early appointments. It is now 1.5 hours or more.
The highway time is maybe 40 minutes... the remaining time is highway to downtown. About 8-10 miles.

You should start thinking about miles put vehicles, amount of fuel over the etc. I did and it is scary!

Currently my commute is (to the barn and back) about 600 ft. From my previous real job 48 miles round trip. I still put a lot of miles on when I attend auctions and stock my antiques space. Sometimes 200 miles a day about 2 times a month.

My Wife currently works three days a week, 150 miles round trip. Her other job is one day a week 25 miles round trip. Every couple of months she teaches somewhere in the State and that could be 400 miles round trip.

10 miles at 10 minutes one way-could almost drive my tractor to work. I can also work from home anytime I want but the 24x7 on call and 50-60 hours a week arent fun.

I have about the best commute so far on here,, About 20 miles through the country roads of Maine,, Drive by 2 beautiful lakes every day, One state park cliff site.. Through a shady area where the trees canopie over the road.. down through Camden where the tall ships are at dock..

Untill the summer time it's great,,Then "THEY" come..

12 miles each way, some mornings I see some others cars on the road. Usually more on the way home thought, still it is not really what I would call traffic . Jeffersonville to Jericho Rt15

I think I've got the best. 9.1 miles to work from home in Williamsburg, VA. 80% of time I bike it....32 minutes one way. When raining or below 25 degrees, I take the truck! Average 3,000 miles/year commuting by bike which I figure is a savings of $450/year in gas cost avoidance. And for those interested, yes, we do have a shower/locker room at work...Greatly improves the morale of my coworkers!

52 miles round trip. 2x a week. Bought a bike this year gas is over 4 bucks a gallon here as I'm sure it is in other places too.

Use to commute from Alameda Ca. to Coupeville Wa. 926 miles each way via Alaska airlines. Only did it once or twice a month. Refused to move my family to the bay area while I was on the USS Carl Vinson. I spend half my time deployed anyway.

Mark, thanks for your service to our country.

Generally I had been thinking that most of us had a short commute to the barn. But then I read reports here of peeps like MossflowerWoods commuting for hours.

I've always heard, if you can't be good, be a good BAD example for people to steer clear of!

Seems I've been successful, one way or another!

:D

Mark,

#1 - Thank you for your service shipmate.

#2 - Unfortunately I can beat that... In mid June 2004 I moved my Family to Fredericksburg VA from Anaheim Hills, CA. But I kept my Job in Irvine, CA.

I used to get up at 3am Eastern, Drive to Reagan National Airport (I'd arrive at approx 5:46-6am. I'd catch the Alaska Airlines non-stop to LAX, and arrive in LAX about noon. I'd drive from LAX to my office in Irvine CA. 2613 air miles, 65 miles to DCA, and about 50 or so miles from LAX to Irvine (I can't recall the exact distance).

Thursday I would head home on the reverse route.

I did that basically 50 times per year from June 2004 until late Oct. 2006...

I flew that route so many times I knew all the crew, all the air marshalls, and too many of the passengers would even recognize me. I flew over 500,000 air miles in 2 years...

I think of it as the commute from H3LL...

Now I just drive ~160 miles round trip approx 4 times per week.
