Neighbor thinks he owns my land?

Ok, you guys are scaring me now. I called a surveyor two weeks ago. He is supposed to come out as soon as the weather is good enough. I thought that was expensive enough...I need an attorney too? I could have gone over there as soon as I bought the property and pushed their stuff over the line with my fel. I thought I would let them enjoy the property, since their house is on a smaller parcel. I am going to be really twisted if I end up needing an attorney!

What say you wait for the surveyor's report first...then act accordingly.
IMHO, you don't need an attorney and that should be a last resort.
As far as pushing their stuff off the property...I wouldn't until you know it's your land.

If they squat your land in Ohio and you take no action for seven years the land will become theirs. Sure as the grass grows and the wind blows. Not something to take lightly.

I'm just asking you to get what is a matter of public record and then make it 3 dimensional. You may find that this guy is on his land. You may find that he is not a trespasser, but either way he is still your neighbor.
Soooo your going to have to deal with him for as long as you and he own the land.

Really, an attorney shouldn't be a last resort. If you don't have a family lawyer, finding one now wouldn't be a bad idea. Having a legal description, drawing and a couple photos should provide enough info for a quick consult.

I got tangled up on this once. Had some other property issues besides this. Lawyers will help you after you get into trouble. It's best and a lot cheaper to know the laws before you need a lawyer.

Do you know who you are dealing with or not?
The legal description is the record, not what your dad said or what your dad thinks he owns.
Get that legal description and then hire a surveyor to mark what it is you think you own. Give him the legal description and see what's up.You should be able to get without leaving your living room or where ever your pc is
What is recorded is what matters. then it's up to him (or you) to prove otherwise.

I have found stakes, taken measuremnts, and even talked to the guy that surveyed it in 1997. He is the one that is going to come out and remark it for me. My dad has lived on that land all of his life. Without a doubt, he knows more about that land than anyone. I know for certain where the line is.
