I have a new Rhino L200 post hole digger. What stand would youu recommend I use? With Pats Easy Change System will putting the PHD on the tractor be easier?

Thanks. Any input appreciated!!

There are quite a few different types of stands. This is what I use. Bought everything for about $20, but that was 7 years ago. 3-4x4s and 2 Simpson hangers to hold the cross piece in place and yet still be easily removed.

How do you mount and dismount? It appears high and how do you get the shaft around the cross post? Can't quite visualize.

I was wondering the same thing. It looks like you would still have to pick it up by hand. On mine I just drill a hole in the ground then unhook it.

This is what I do also but still is a bit of manual tug and push.

I just mounted a 4x4 post across two more 4x4 posts, and then I suspend the PHD with a chain. This way, the PHD is VERY EASY to manuever into position to attach it to the tractor. Here's a pic that will give you the general idea.

The cross post is not permanent, it just held in place between with the U-Bracket at the top of each vertical post.

We have an old 10' satellite dish that is no longer used. I just hung the PHD from the dish frame with a short chain.

The 4x4 is not fastened, only setting in the saddles. My tractor is a 75hp, so a little bigger than a lot of your tractors. No struggling at all. Takes right at 7-8 minutes to have it hitched up and PTO hooked up. The parking height height is determined when the PHD is attached to the tractor. That way you know that you have enough lift to get the weight off the cross bar once you have the PHD hitched up and can remove the cross post and drive away.

Like it. I hang mine off a chain wrapped around a fork in a tree behind the barn. When that tree gets to tall I'll find another one.

i need to be able to move mine after taking it off the tractor, so i built a cheap one with an old pallet. Just drive up and hook up. cant be easier. Also, the hydraulic assist unit really made it heavy overall...hard to manhandle like i did before.

Right now the PHD is hanging by a chain from a rafter in the barn.

Hanging it by a chain is the way to go for easy maneuvering during hookup.

I also used a chain & hung it from a large, low hanging oak branch for a while one time.

I am currently using a PHD to replace some fence posts I installed 15 yrs ago,
Little 3 in post that most are half rotted, think they were locusts. Anyway I remember installing the posts and had my dad hanging off a bar with all 250lbs me on top the gear box with my bro riding the ford 600. the safety police would have got me. I am having a much easier time with a 3 in pilot hole
How well does that hydralic assist work? Can you drill in hard dry ground?

well i never have tried to drill in dry ground, i always plan my work for spring time. I can tell you that this baby is advertised to add aprox 250# of rear assist to the digging, and it really makes that drill dig in fast. i have to be real careful not to bury the drill. Its a single acting cylinder, so when i raise the 3 point, the cylinder collapses by itself and releases the hydraulic fluid back into the tractor. works slick. I have decomposed granite soil, and the first 12-16 inches of soil sucks to dig. i used to have to use pry bar while digging initial holes...not anymore.

Yes, hard dry ground has not been a problem.:thumbsup: Before I invested in my Land Pride down pressure kit, it would literally take days do dig an 18" hole 42"-48" deep. Dig a little bit and fill with water and wait until the next day to finish digging. And sometimes even then the water would not have soaked in. I am a weekender and simply do not have the time to wait. So I bought a down pressure kit for my PHD and have not had a hole yet that has taken me more than a couple of minutes.

I also have DG for most of our ground, and when it is hard and dry it is like a rock. So for me the $500 for the DP kit was worth every penny. Oh and I believe that depending on the maker of the kit, that the pressure exerted varies between 250-500lb of down force. One of these days I will test mine to varafiy just how much mine actually does exert.

I got my downpressure kit from Speeco for about $250.00 earlier this year. I had to do some slight modifications, but it has worked great. And i dont have to have anyone help add weight off of a wedged bar in back ever again.

Ive never even seen an 18" auger bafore . dont think i ever want to either. That sounds too much like work.

The one in the digging picture is a 24" tree auger. Works very well. I have 6", 9", 12, 18" and 24" Pengo augers. I have only used the 6", 18", and the 24" augers.
