Tractor
2010 John Deere 2520
My major function for a new tractor will be snowblowing. I will also need loader work for business of cutting and splitting wood. I can make almost any loader work for the wood business. But for blowing snow bigger is definetely better. In addition, I no longer have the interest of driving in reverse all day. I have compared JD and Case compact tractors learning that Case can cut a front hitched snowblower of 63 inches with their farmall 31. 72 inches with their 40. JD's biggest 3x can only cut 59 inches with there front mount. I have not tried either and wondered if any one has? Any input with comparison on how they throw snow or any other experinces with front attatched snow blowers are most welcome. They are very expensive and I just want to make the best decision. thanks, greg.:confused::confused:

Well, are you open to considering any other brands besides green and red? I couldn't tell from the way your message was worded. I don't know JD products all that well, but it looks like the 3 series tops out in the 40 hp range and you move into the 4 series above that. Don't see that Deere offers a front blower for the 4 series, although mid-pto is an option. If you'd consider the Grand L Kubota's, for example, you can find a 72" front blower that looks very strong next to the Case IH product. There are likely other brands worth considering also.

If you must have the Deere brand, here are a couple of outfits that offer a conversion setup to mount a 3 point blower at the front. That would let you put a 72" blower on the front of a JD 4 series.

Here's another front mounted blower I find quite interesting:
Front Mount Snowblower for Compact Tractor : Erskine Attachments, Inc.

Almost makes me wish I had more driveway to plow so I could justify one of these.

Anyway, the 72" and 78" blowers have a recommended minimum 30 PTO HP, which the 3520 (I think) and the 3720 meet. Even the 3320 with it's 28 PTO HP should do OK...

Bobcat is offering a free snowblower in lieu of financing in their current tractor promotion. I don't know any details, but I do know they offer a 72" front mount snow blower for my CT335.

Hit this link and just watch as the promotions scroll through on the page. They show front mounts in the add.

Kubota or Deere. Under 50 hp the edge goes to Kubota.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion...which is all it is.

thanks grandad for the links, they were helpfull. I could not find any other blowers to research. I am open to other tractor models. I also have taken a closer look at the" orange " especially after viewing there snow blower attatchments. They offer 5 inch wing extensions on the already wide blowers.

We don't live where there is a real winter anymore so I don't know a lot about the modern snow equipment, but going much above 6 or 7 ft in width, I'd expect you're looking for tractors with 75 hp and up.

If you go with one of those conversion setups, I suppose you could use any brand of 3pt snowblower (Woods, Bobcat, Lucknow, Schulte, Provenost are the ones I've heard of... Google "3 point snowblower" and there are many). Problem with that approach is the $$$ start piling up, so to speak.
