Just to repeat myself, the Ruger 10/22 is the best, most fun, easiest to shoot weapon that I own!!!!

I had friends out here today that had never fired a gun in their lives. I started them out with the Ruger 10/22 and within half an hour, they where loving it!!! They shot most of what I have, and then wanted to shoot the 22 again. We went through a full box of 550 rounds.:thumbsup:

I don't know if there is a better, more reliable, affordable funner gun out there to shoot, but I do know that you will never regret owning one of these. Mine is around 30 years old, maybe older, and it shoots like it was brand new.

While they chose to pose with other weapons, that was the one they shot the most.

I like my 10/22, a Bicentennial edition. Unfortunately, as a collectable, it has been pretty beat up(before I got it 25 years ago).

For first time shooters though, I always start them on a single shot or a bolt action. More control over what they are doing, and easier to teach the basics.

As much as I like my 10/22, every time I go shooting with my buddy that has the Rossi pump 22 replica, my 10/22 gets set down and I shoot that pump 22. It is just soooooo much fun :D

Say, when you coming out again? We'll go shoot by Ione at Sac Valley... Sacramento Valley Shooting Center

Funny thing about traveling. When I lived there, I was always wanting to travel and go just about anywhere. Now that I live here, I never want to leave or go anywhere else.

My 2 favorite 22's are:

S & W AR 15-22 but it goes through ammo quickly.

Smooth action is the Henry Golden Boy lever action.

I have several Winchester 1894 lever action rifles and they are crude compared to the Henry. I keep them for the investment.

I've got a Ruger 10/22/Volquartzen with a Jewell trigger that I like to shoot. From a rest with that heavy barrel it doesn't even move. Just blink, take another breath, exhale and shoot. Fun stuff.

My son really wants tohe S&W AR but its over my price range. Have you tried the Mossberg AR-22 or should I just wait until we can afford the S&W?

Thanks.

I have read that the Winchester 94 is now out of production (?) and that if you want one....you need to find used.....or hurry up and find new-old stock. The prices on these have gone up recently. I believe the Browning is still available....but many folks like the Winny better.

FN started production of the 94 and the 1300 in 2010. It's barely relevant, since if you want a lever action, the Marlin was always a better design.

I bought one of these a few months ago, with a Tac Driver scope. Added a streamlight on the rail, along with a laser dot. I use it as part of my NVEI (norturnal varmint eradication initiative:D). It's plenty accurate, but with dual velcroed 25 round magazines, you simply pull the trigger as fast as you can until the noise stops:thumbsup::D:D

It's a hoot.

I've have a Winchester 9422 that is my favorite plinker. When shot regularly it is a tack driver and just a lot of fun to shoot. Both of the boys learned to shoot on it and they both think of it as "Thiers". I've had it over 25 years. I wish I had gotten one in .22 mag at the same time.

My Dad was a great pistol shot(27 years with DPD). And as a kid I'd go to the range with him. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol(of course he let me shoot his Chief's Special). After I got back from overseas I bought a Ruger single six to become a better pistol shot(I could afford to shoot it alot). After a lot of practice I got a lot better and can hold my own, but the Ruger is a great plinker, and I've taught a lot of people who had never picked up a gun before to shoot with it. It's easy for women or kids to handle and they develop a comfort level with it very quickly. I even taught my Daughter-in law who was deathly afraid of guns to shoot on it. She's still a work in progress, but is showing promise.

I love all .22 rifles have since I was kid shooting cow pies in the pastures I have an older 572 Adl Remington pump as my goto .22 rifle now days.

Its a sweetheart and dead accurate too it will shoot any combination of shorts to long rifle in any order you put them in the tube magazine. I think it holds 22 shorts that is a lot of plinking w/o reloading right there!

First place I go at a pawn shop or gun show is the used .22 rifles. I can go through a 100 of them and never get tired of it have taken a few nice ones home too lots of great ones out there to choose from.
