Hey,

Kinda new here, but I figured I'd share a little bit of my other hobby here with you guys since you have this fancy sub-forum dedicated to just pictures.

Anyways, I'll post up every once in a while. Feel free to criticize or critique. I really enjoy comments from people who don't do this regularly. I get bored with other photogs comments because I already know what they are going to say. :)

Also if anyone is ever interested in pursuing this hobby please let me know and I can point you in the direction of good online resources. I also used to do some moonlighting as a used gear seller (more of a broker than anything else).

On to some pics!

Thanks for looking! I'll be posting more in the thread soon!

Wow, those are absolutely amazing! I wanted to study photography but with my income that's not possible.

Great work though

Very nice. I love seeing what others do, then try to figure out how they got that shot, and then try to do it myself!!!! That black and white picture looks like something that I want to try.

From a guy who shoots for a living, I look forward to the day when I can take the camera and take the wonderfully creative shots you've exhibited here!
Keep up the good work!

What is your favorite "carry around" camera?

Nikon D700

That's usually what I do to learn.. then add you own "flair" to it. That shot is a long exposure in mid day sun shot through welding glass.

You train with what you got! Part of my job is first response fire brigade in a power plant. it's all good.. just a lil diesel fuel!

Thanks for the comments! I forgot to add the quote about getting into it but being cost prohibitive.. In the digital age you can get into a digital SLR (used, older) rig for less than $150 (i've even given cameras away).. shoot away.. no more cost for development!!!

Amazing pics. I love the moving water, and the black and white cow.

Are you still taking pics during the summer? I'm dying to find something interesting to take a picture of. My land is dead, and I'm struggling to find anything that interests me right now.

Thanks! I'm really thinking about printing the cow pic. It'll be a nice pic and a way to remember him after he re-locates to the neighbor's freezer in Feb.

I am always shooting. It is really dry here also. I've found moving up a few hundred feet in elevation brings color back into the equation (i don't know if that is possible in TX). Those waterfall shots were from last week.

If all else fails you can always move close to rural areas and the colors start to come back, but they are from humans vice nature. I also try to put myself somewhere out of my comfort zone when I get bored. Keeps things interesting and I usually end up learning a thing or 5.

Thanks! That aquarium is the GA Aquarium in ATL. I think that tank holds a measly 6 million gallons and 4 whalesharks and a few manta rays. Nothing special. :)

I'll keep posting up some pics but a lot of them will be silly pictures of my kid!
