Tractor
2011 Kubota B3000
Hi guys, was looking for a little advice. My tractor has been in the shop the last 3 weeks for a transmission leak. I got it back and all is well. I go there so much I have become somewhat friends with the mechanic, real nice guy, and has helped me out alot over the past year or so. Long story short, he just got a new B3000 in. He made me get in it and take it for a drive. It was 95+ degrees that day and the A/C cab felt like heaven. I was also very impressed with how quiet it was and smooth at all RPM ranges.

I mow about 5-6 acres of my 8 acre property, and use the bucket all the time for doing misc things around the property. I have a snowblower and absolutely freeze in these CNY winters. A cab would be nice. Plus I do want extra lifting capacity since I feel my BX is just slightly lower than what I need for some stuff I lift.

The dealer made me a great offer on a trade for the new B3000. At least I think its a pretty good deal. My only concerns on the "new" tractor would be the cab, have a few trees around the propery (read: more trim mowing) and snow removal with just a bucket (dont want to spend 6K on a new blower, at least not now). Granted, there are lots of places my BX cant go simply because of the roll bar. But like I said, mowing is just one of its uses.

I would trade in:
1. 2009 BX2660 with 210 hours (just changed oil (mobile 1) and tran fluid to sudt2)
2. 60" deck (brand new blades used once)
3. LA243 loader
4. front mt snowblower (brand new, with quick hitch, mid pto driveline, etc)
5. bx panded pallet forks (only work on BX buckets)

for brand new:
1. B3000HSDCC <--better of the two
2. front loader with 60" bucket - LA403
3. RC72-30B 72" mid mount mower

I am going to keep my ballast box and also my landpride RCR-1548 bush hog.

They are offering me 20K on a trade, going with generally list price on the new one. For tax purposes its better that way (ny-8.25% tax). I know I can probably buy one cash for around $27,500 give or take, then there is more tax and I still have to sell mine. The price they are working on with the tractor is 32,700 with all the above attachments, leaving me to pay a difference of roughly 13K plus tax. obviously taking advantage of 0% for 60, my payment wont be much more than it is now, including my low payoff. I could probably even match it. They said they can call Kubota and try to beat them up somemore since I had so much warranty work on my BX.

What do you think of the deal? What is my trade-in worth on the used market, such as craigs list or ebay? I had one dealer tell me start at $15K and work your way down. Crunching numbers, if I did get 15K for my tractor with said attachments, I wouldnt save alot overall than just trading it. Unless its worth more than $15k, i dont think its worth the time and hassel of trying to sell it outright, dealing with lowballers. thoughts?

My only other concern is will I like this tractor? Or am I caught up in the moment. I will lose my snow blower, but thats not so much a big dissappointment for me. I used mine one season and managed to destroy it and get a new one with my insurance. Ive used the bucket on my BX before and it did a fine job, more time consuming, but in a heated cab who cares? Will mowing with the 72" deck be ok? I believe this deck is not free floating, and runs on the ground all the time. Is that too wide? Would the 60" be preffered. I would like the bigger one, since it takes quite a while to do the lawn, and most of it is flat and smooth, free of obstruction. Also would you opt for the propritary front loader quick hitch system. I would like to buy the OE pallet forks if I do this deal, sometime down the road. That would make swapping bucket to forks easy. I think its only around $250. Still dont know why its not a universal style like most (skid steer's).

Another reason the cab is appealing to me is im constantly fighting off black flies in the back portion of my yard. Most will probably laugh, but swatting them away gets tiresome, and the bites dont feel good. minor inconvenience, I know.

Please let me know what you think or slap some sense back into me!

I have a B3030HSDCC I bought in 2007. This is the forerunner to the B3000. I have the 72" mid mower. It is a ground contact mower. I have no problems with cut quality. I don't have a lawn, however I have a yard. I'm not overly fussy with my yard. I don't have a snowblower, but I do have the front blade & it works well for me. When there's too much snow for the blade I use the FEL & can stack the snow really high & out of the way. This is slow going however. I may eventually get a front blower. Get a Q/A for your FEL. I didn't & I wish I had. Get as many rear remotes as you can. I got two & use them a lot. This was as many as I could get. As far as tree branches & the cab go, one of my first jobs with the tractor was going around & trimming any branches the tractor didn't fit under. In your situation this would depend on the kind of trees you have, of course. I never regretted buying mine, not even for one minute!

Andy, I have the B3030 tractor with cab, loader, and 5 foot belly mower. I personally think that with the amount of snow you get you will absolutely love the heated cab. I know prior to getting my cabbed tractor I too froze my a@# off way to many times. It felt like I had frostbite on my toes it go so cold plowing snow. Now with the cabbed tractor I can plow in shorts, tennis shoes, and a tee shirt if I wanted too. In the summer time I don't have to worry about the heat or worse the humidity as I'm inside a cold environment with the a/c on usually the low setting. No need to worry about bugs, bees, poison ivy, etc. I cut about 3 acres of grass. My wife talked me into the cabbed tractor and I couldn't be happier. Especially in the winter time when the snow is blowing sideways and it's bitter out. Now I realize some members here like being outside in the fresh air, etc. but it is nice not to have to worry about the blowing wind/snow. I can't comment on the price of your deal but if you get the chance you should perhaps go back to the dealer and drive the B3000 a little more. I never had a need for a snowblower (except for the blizzard of 2010) but here in Maryland our storms aren't usually that bad. I have no trouble plowing about 7-8 neighbor driveways for them and not worrying about the weather. Good luck to you and keep us informed what you decide. If you should have further questions please post, we're here to help you. Stanley

Thanks for the good advice. I forgot to mention my back yard is loaded with poison ivy. Both my dad and I got it bad. He got it just from mowing. I get it so bad I have to be put on prednisone. Nasty stuff!

Does anyone have any comment on how much I could sell my tractor outright for?

Thanks again for all the help.

Andy

I will have to look into it. It has taken over many trees in the back yard. I really don't think burning it is an option. Plus I've heard horror stories of it getting into people's lungs. Really don't want to get hospitalized. I'd rather pay someone to do it. Nasty nasty stuff.

Do not burn poison ivy. If the oil does not get hot enough to destroy the "poison" it can get into your lungs. Had PI so many times as a kid that I bathed in calamine lotion. Fortunately I seem to have grown out of the allergy.

Most any product with 2-4d in it will kill PI and not harm your grass. May have to add a little crop oil to help the chemical get through the oil/wax on the leaves so it absorbs it better.

Might be newer products out also.

When I had my BX, the dealer I bought it from offered me a pretty good price to trade it in on a larger tractor. I ended up selling it private sale for
less than a thousand more. Though I did make out a bit better, the next time I just might take the trade price. Fortunately, the guy that bought my BX didn't have any problems, or find things he was unhappy about after the sale, but I wouldn't be that lucky every time. My BX22 sold for 5K less than the price new. ( I bought it used with just a few hours on it so I made out OK) I think 15K + for yours is a bit optimistic.

I'd say if you got a great deal on it, I'd jump on it. I personally hate dealing with private sales unless I was the one buying as I can negotiate price all I want. The bxpanded forks, you might want to put a sale on it here on TBN, you might get a better deal instead of letting it go to dealer as they wouldnt know much what to do with it if the next customer didnt want it.
A cab sounnds really nice with winter coming up. It sure would be great to get away from those deerflies- they are a PITA.

nothing wrong with upgrading if it suits your needs. 15k for your current bx setup? heck- I'd jump on it. Just be sure you add all the options and implements NOW as package as it cheaper and easier to deal with price.

Chuck, thanks for your input. I guess the million dollar question is, are you happy with the B over the BX?

Am i the only one that thinks that 32900 asking price is high? Thats exactly what i paid for my L3540htsc3 724 loader with every option except heated glass and a rear remote that I added later. That price also included a woods 72"box blade and skid steer pallet forks.

Yes, for 99% of what I do, I like the B over the BX I had. I have missed the backhoe a few times, and if I were going to just mow most of the time the BX would be better, but for my mixed yard, and woods work the B has been just great. Now I just need both.

Another option for snow is a rear blade, they are also pretty cheap and work well, as long as the snow isn't deep. If I'm spending your money, I'm trading in tommorow.

See what they offer you on a trade without the blower and then sell it seperate. Probably get more for it. Same with the forks. **** I might even be interested if you go that route.

I have to throw two cents in here, since for the first time yesterday I got to look at a B3000 on the local dealer's lot sitting directly next to a B3030. I;m surprised at how much they have cheapened them up. I had read they did away with the position control in favor of the quarter inching.... they did. But, Kubota also did away with alot of the other deluxe features. Gone are the front work lights on the cab. Gone are the extendable three point hitch arms. Gone are the telescoping side links. Gone is the ratcheting height adjustment on the right side.

I have to say to anyone looking at a B3000 at this time..... find a 'leftover' B3030 while you still can.

They make two models of the B3000, a B3000HDC and B3000HDCC, the B3000HDCC has those features you mentioned as missing.
