That definitely sucks. The magnet idea sounds worth trying. Maybe a local welding shop could fab something together for you at a reasonable cost.

Take them a picture and see what they say. Maybe it could be attached to your FEL or to an implement in the rear and travel backwards.

I will see what they can come up with

Corey, While I was eating dinner, you got some Great Advice on the Magnet. One should be able to get a magnetic strip built for that purpose without the need for a welder... They use them on parking lot sweepers and one should be able to find one close by with the WWW.. I'm sure someone local could order it in for you....

Black Locust trees are about the worst thing I have ever came across for puncturing tires. We had a lot of these where we used to live. I don't miss them one bit.

I have locast on the edge of some fields we make hay in. Never ending battle. I also have this kind. I know in 2009 I was seeing my tire repair guy way too much!:D

I think you will get more flats with ags then r4's. There is more lugs on R4 so its somewhat more protection. I think if the fronts were foamed, you should be ok with it, even if it develop the dreaded flat spot. The fronts on BX is so small, and its top speed is still pretty slow so the thumping wouldnt be as noticeable like those in large farm tires.

:D this may sound stupid it did to me until i tried it 2 years later still up before had to put air in every time i used it antifreeze yes that's wright put some in your hand see how long it takes to wash it off a french s mustered bottle fits perfect over the valve stem now this was on a ATV it took a cup in each tire so if you dont try it really what do you have to lose :thumbsup:

How about taking those tracks that atv's use in the winter (that look like 4 tank tracks) one on each wheel. Think that would work? Lol

That would take care of the fronts but what about the rears?

It does sound crazy but it's crazy ideas that made the things we use today and can't live without.

My2009 BX2660 had one front tire that had a slow leak. I removed the tire and sealed the steel rim and tire bead with bead sealer and have never had another problem. As to tire sealant, I've had good luck on other small equipment with "Linseal" which is a green slime with black specs. As has already been mentioned, maybe you are not using enough. Otherwise, it looks like you are heading for the full foam job. Over the years, I've cleaned my place up from thorny locust, russian olive and osage orange hedge; but still have to police up some fallen stuff now and then.:(

Does foaming equal harder rides and more stress on axle components?

green slime has worked well for me on tractor and atv

Given the choice I'd rather not use the green slime. It seems to be quit corrosive to the rims. Is fixing the roofs an option seeing as that's where the nails are coming from?

Not really cause the tires have so much slime in them to fix earlier holes.

It's pretty bad I have to wear steel toe and plate boots in my yard

If it is *that* bad a magnet is your only hope. They sell huge magnets at roofing supply houses.

I tore down a 20x20 shed on my property (mostly by hand). We tried picking everything up but I got 3 flats in 15 minutes afterwards. Bought a relatively small roofers magnet and quickly filled a 5 gallon bucket with stray nails.

And if you can't afford a magnet, you definitely can't afford foamed tires. :(

I went with medium density... they offered a low density and high density... although the high density is for heavy equipment.

I rarely road my BX... most of my land is steep and 99% I'm in low range... so ride of speed has not been an issue.

The Dealer did not recommend Foam if I primarily do finish mowing... said the extra weight and higher speeds are not ideal...

I have not foamed the front because my Kubota Dealer advised against it... I do run Slime and so far so good.

I will look into the magnet idea and see what happens.

From the magnet web site referred to:

call 1-800-221-0516 and I'm guessing you can order w. check or M.O.

I have seen a thick rubber liner shield that can be placed inside the tire between the tire and tube. I don't know if they even make these anymore.
Although I've never used them (tire liner), I see that GEMPLER'S - Muck Boots, Carhartt Workwear, Battery Chargers & more - Official Site has the "tire guard" liner advertised in their catalog. Apparently you have to use an inner tube to hold it in place. But it is advertised as..."virtually never wear out and are a fraction of the cost of foam-filled tire."
