Excatly ... I try the search and after reading ALOT ... well I just post my question. And then someone replies with ...

Use the search feature!!

Just my opinion but the idea of this site and others like it is that you have an immediate problem and need help and your tractor is sitting broken and idle...so you get intimidated into not posting your specific question, important to you, until you have searched all the forums which could easily take hours..But you need an answer now and some ninny posts to you to do a search..I would say ignore the ninny and post your question - there are plenty of great folks here that will answer quickly..that has been my experience thus far.:)

Am I guilty of the unpaid advertising then?? My log in name is the name of my business and even though it is commercial fishing it is still my business although I do no advertising and the only product I produce I sell to the local canneries.

I agree brin this is a site to ask a question and get help, not to have someone tell you to look somewhere else. But that being said one can find alot of the answers they are looking for in other post. They just may need alittle help until they have time to search for the answer themselves.:D

Your username doesn't ask for business or try to buy or sell anything, and you do not have a link to a commercial website included in your signature or message posted. So, nope, you're not doing anything wrong.

Bird speaking of selling anything, if i had a used piece of equipment for sell is it ok to post that on here or is that a big NO NO?

I also have no issue with extra posts about somewhat the same issue, if a person doesn't want to help then don't look. Every issue is different, and even the search may not give the answer someone is looking for.

What was this thread about dogs driving tractors with the girls from hooters in wagons? Oh yeh how about post that go way off topic :D

x2 Especially when a veteran here might recall the title of a thread that can answer the poster's question; Said veteran could quickly find the thread & just post the link to it. Said veteran doesn't have to re-type a bunch of stuff. Nobody needs to get snooty about it, but sometimes they do.

That would be a big NO NO to post it here in this forum. However, you can post it, at no cost, in the Private Party Ads forum.

I agree with everything said here so far.

The resurecting a dead thread doesn't bother me when the person bringing it back has a SPECIFIC question that pertains to that exact thread, or for a person in that thread.

The problem is when 5 years ago someone was asking about "what chainsaw I sould buy" and someone ressurects it with a post something like "All stihls are junk, you should buy a husqvarna". Those are the ones that get on members nerves.

The only other thing I will add about using a search function is when someone posts a very simple question and you can tell the obviously didn't even try to find the answer on their own. Especially when just a google search will turn up 8 correct answers on the first page. And to top it off, those questions are usually asked by one and done posters. I don't have any examples but it is always something like, "what spark plug does an 8n take" and then they never respond back.
