LilRanch, before I bolt this fine thread let me tell you that was a cheesy and sour grapes response if I ever saw one........

cheesy maybe...... but sour grapes? I think not.
I have no reason to have sour grapes.
I just think a dealer prices things (in my experience) at the price point that they are going to get their return on investment, and sometimes I think people whine without having any business experence on why prices are where they are.
I am sure you want to earn an honest dollar for your work, and without a dealer making money that dealer is not going to be in business long.
I like this forum, but I see a lot of whining by people who do not have a clue, thus my post.

:)

I did not know that offshore manufacturers have started using SAE. I wish they would all convert back to the old way of measuring and get rid of this Metric crapola. Ken Sweet

The loader is USA made. Apparently the tool carrier is as well.

I already stated that I don't fault the dealer. They are charging what they need to charge based on what they are being charged for the part.

Initially, I didn't know if it was Mahindra or the dealer that priced the bolt - and I said so.

The rant was the idea of a $10-nothing-special bolt. I think there are parts that are worth a premium b/c of R&D or special specs req'd. No problem. But $10 for a plain-Jane shoulder bolt is nothing more than an attempt to take advantage of the unsuspecting. By Mahindra USA - the loader mfr.

Fortunately, I am part of the suspecting rather than the non variety. I easily found what I needed for a reasonable price and my life is grand.

Dealers are there to make a profit as it should be. However I found that by shopping prices at different dealers can save the customer money. For example the hydraulic filter on my tractor was almost 50% cheaper at one local dealer compared to another. I am not sure why one is cheaper but I learned to shop around.

If the high cost of a bolt can be attributed to shipping costs, shouldn't a second or third bolt be priced less? Considering all three bolts were shipped together, I'd expect to recieve a savings, as the dealer would be paying only one shipping charge.

The USA is adopting the Metric system and phasing out the SAE.
This started back int he early 70's and will be completed in the year 1979.
In the 70's, there was an expression being stated "Think metric". Some U.S. road signs of distances to cities started showing kilometers next to miles. They both appear to have become history long ago.
only the U.S. and Burundi have not officially adopted the metric system.
