Flail Mower value leader flail

Does anyone have a value leader flail mower or do you know someone who does. I see them on ebay and assume they are built in China.

I know this thread is pretty old, but I thought I'd try again--Anyone own one of these Value Leader flair mowers?

Value Leader Implements

If so, any feedback on performance, durability, etc?
Pricewise, they're comparable to the Caroni flails that Agri Supply handles.

I have the EFGCH175, 68 in cut. Got it in Dec and have about 30 hours on it. I been using it with the hammer blades so far, knocking down some 3 ft grass, guava trees, etc. Have hit a bunch of small rocks and replaced a number of blades from hitting bigger rocks. All in all, I'm quite happy with it. Not crazy with the PTO shaft/shear bolt setup and would prefer a slip clutch. I've broken most of my shear bolts by releasing the clutch too fast.

I got mine from Keith, Betstco, 1-877-876-7895 ext.312, a real pleasure to deal with. Best to talk with him about the differences.

I added a slip clutch to my Yanmar RS1200 rototiller without much problem.



Had to make a few modifications to get it onto my 2005 Kubota B7510HST.

The lower lift arms on the 7510 were too short (25 in long) so I had to use the 35 inch arms from my 1964 MF135 diesel.

I bought the shortest pto shaft I could find at Tractor Supply and had to cut off an additional 2 inches.

I had to use a pto shaft extension on the rototiller to move the slip clutch away from the sheet metal on top of the tiller.

You may be able to do something similar for your flail mower.

So I got the flail yesterday evening. I put it together this morning and put about 3 hours in the fields with it. So far I am very pleased with it. I'm not sure if I have to get the height set a bit lower or not but it cut the heavier weeds better than it did the light grass. I did manage to break a shear bolt.....opps...my mistake though. I have an electronic pto clutch, I already had the rpms raised when I flipped the switch...SNAP! Oh well...won't do that again!

If any of you guys have seen a used 8' name brand flail under $1,500 within reasonable shipping distance of Wilmington, DE please pass it along. I can't find an 8' flail that isn't a rusted out beat up POS anywhere. :confused2:

Good luck on that one. I've been looking for a used 6ft flail for nearly a year. The ones I've seen have been worked to death in the orchards around here and are so beat up I'd be afraid to run them at pto speed fearing that the dang things would come apart. That's all I need--to have one of my big tractor rears cut up by flying parts from an old flail mower.

This is my 2nd cutting season with mine. No problems so far, but I am thinking of replacing the y blades with a flat smooth blade for hopefully a little cleaner cut on the tall thin stuff.

I must have jinxed myself. Yesterday the pins that hold the roller on broke.

Why does this flail have a shear bolt at all? The cutter is belt driven so that should suffice in protecting the PTO from shock loads. Shouldn't it?

My Caroni has no shear bolt and relies on slippage of the three belts for protection. I've suddenly stalled the tractor/mower several times with chunks of wood or other obstructions. No damage.

I burned up the belts on my Caroni within 2 hours of posting that I'd never had a problem with my belts last year. It was quite exciting as they basically caught fire and I saw black smoke pouring out of the mower. Shut it down and the belts cooled off but stunk. Greasy mess cleaning it up but a new set of Gates belts put everything back to working order.

Hope you get your pin fixed easily. I for some reason thought those rollers were always on axles. I'll have to check mine.

Interesting. I'm using the provided shaft with the shear bolt design. Slippage would seem to make sense. My breakage is my own doing for the most part. I'll "forget" to throttle down and pop the clutch - typically breaking the shear bolt or weakening it enough that I'm successful on a future try. :laughing:
Easier to replace the bolt than belts (cheaper too)

Are your pins replaceable?
