I don't remember which chains I have on my B7800, but I did need to remove 1 cross link. I think this is fairly normal as they size the chains for the width and allow them to fit different diameters. They don't have to stock as many sizes this way.

Do your chains hit the fenders? I would like to get some, but one guy with heavy chains says they chewed up his fenders on the rear of his B7800 with R4 tires.

You have to purchase the optional spring tensioners. These keep the chains snug against the tire so they won't flop around and hit the fenders.

I have the 2-link chains and they do not hit the fenders. I do have the spring tensioners.

I just recently bought 2 link chains from Tirechain.com and I will definitley have to remove a cross chain to make them fit. I have plenty of room around the tires, which I have set fairly wide.

Roy,
It seems pretty normal to have to adjust the length of the chain, and even take out a cross chain in some cases. A hammer and chisel make pretty easy work of that. I also make sure that I don't have any extra chain dangling because I don't want it to catch on anything.

Hey, what do you mean about having the rear tires set 'fairly wide'. Is there some way to adjust the rear wheels in and out? Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I AM a newbie...

Have had my 2 link ladders since 2005.
Can't recall how much chain I cut to get them to fit.
Have about 1 " clearance from inner fender,
so I have never had any problems with the chain hitting anything.
I don't use tensioners, I let all the air out of the tires
(I don't have liquid ballast in my tires), install the chains, then
fill the tires up to about 16psi. Chains fit very tight and don't move.
Very happy with them.
