In a previous thread, I asked for your opinion on what I'd written for my website. I thought it was pretty good, but none of you did!! :D:D:D After listening to your advice, I realized that you were right and I did't have a clue.

Thank you for helping me and being honest in your critique. Thankfully, a few of you sent me PM's with some great suggestions. Without giving out any names, one of you really helped me out allot, and as you'll see, I pretty much posted all of your suggestions. A special thank you for your help!!!

Since then, I've been working on my website. I realize that hiring it out would have been easier, but I've seen so many profesionally done sites that I hate, that I figured I could do it myself. Obviosly, that's not true. But thankfully, with your help, I think I'm getting close.

Again, I'm not really looking for more jobs. The phone is still ringing and I'm booked up into March as of right now. My goal is to allow potential clients a way to see some of what I've done and to give them a comfortable feeling about hiring me. I still want to add some before and after pictures, but for now, this is what I have.

Be honest, be brutal and especially, be specific. While telling me that it's terrible will help, telling me it's terrible because of a certain reason is something that I can change.

To be as honest as I can, I'm going to do this with 'no' bars held and as I come up with them.

First off, get your 'big' mug off the front page. It scared me.

On your front page,,,,I don't care 'who' you are,,,,I want to know what you can do for 'me'.

Love all the pics in the 'column' to the left, but let 'me' know that those are pics of your work.

Hey Eddie
I am looking over the site and I noticed a few things:
1) FAQ is listed under the about us tab.

2) The screen size is such that I have to move the window bar back and forth to read some may find that annoying.

3)I think some of the example pictures are to close for example VB Soap dish in Shower(nice tile work), as opposed to LL Playground that shows a larger finished whole view. I think most people need to see the big picture not the minute detail.

4)Possibly put all of your examples under a example tab. All of the tabs on the left are overwhelming. Maybe in your examples have tabs to group playground equipment together, kitchens together, bathrooms together, etc.

5) The home page loads slow an indication that the image resolution may be to high.

6) The home page pic may be better received as a business shot if it included your truck with company logo and phone # on the truck.

Just a few thoughts and It looks as though you do quality work. My wife accuses me of being incomplete because I quit on everything when it gets 95% done. She doesn't know it but I do that so she will keep me around in the hopes that I will finish someday.

Certainly some tweaking is in order, but that will be the case even five years down the road. Pretty darn good for a self-built roll out IMO. I do agree the pic should be you & family....it tells me who I'm looking for while also telling me something more about you. Our website is essentially homemade, and home maintained....and while it clearly does not have the polish of those of many of our competitors, it (and our products and the way we do business) has been good enough to make us one of the most respected firms in our particular market.

You'll find little errors to correct over time, and decide on better ways to present some things over time, but overall I think it's well on the plus side of the ledger. Good luck.

Thank you. I'm making changes as I read your comments. Some are easy, others are beyond me with what I know so far. Organizing pictures is something that I haven't figured out yet. LOL

I can't find the "contact link" that you mentioned, but I'm looking for it.

Thank You,
Eddie

PS Nothing is off limits. I'm asking for and hoping for comments that will point out a problem. I'm getting better, but still have a very long ways to go.
