Kyle,
I really like mine. I shot more with it on Saturday, I'm "minute of pie plate" right now at 25 yards, will get better with practice.

I pulled up a previous model and see what you're talking about with the trigger. I guess it's just a new look. Supposedly, the Gold Cups are the most precise shooting of the Colt family of 1911's. We'll see.

Oh, wanted to note that I checked out the link regarding the cannon. Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.

If I were to buy a hand gun, I thought I had to wait for 5 days, are you saying its the same day nowadays?
Its strange how I can get a shotgun with no waiting, as they can only fire fluffy friendly shells. ;)

Now i know why I started collecting the old guns and got a type 03 CR FFL... no call in.. cash and carry...

10:04am this morning, got a call from the gunshop. FBI called and said "proceed". I'll post up some pics later today (possibly) of my new piece after I go pick it up.

So did they ever indicate for what reason they were interdicting your 2nd amendment rights?

if the federal gov't had to be called on the carpet for every issue like that where they delay a citizens right , when no reason ultimately surfaces.. then they might act differently.

Say.. what about a punative / corrective pay cut every time a federal employee makes a mistake concerning a citizens rights? I'd vote on that one !

If you included Congress in this, it would eliminate the deficit pretty quickly.

For sure.. anyone drawing a government check would / should be in on that one..

No. As you already know, they never tell the reason for the hangup. I attributed it to copious quantities of call-in's since November. The guy at the counter told me that he had many "delay's" in the past weeks. Somebody was behind, that's all. I knew it was nothing on my end causing the delay. Ironically, it's the first time it's ever happened to me. I've bought a boat-load of guns over the years, never one problem. The only thing that p.o'd me is the fact that I had to drive back into town to get it (45 miles round trip to that particular location).

The Government should have to pay you an "inconvenience fee". :D

Now I am sitting here wondering how many guns the crooks have stolen and traded back and forth among themselves during the time Podunkadunk has been waiting to get his firearm legally.

It may be your getting close to the volume threshold of dealer activity, My neighbor was buying and selling/trading guns just a tad over the hobby level, they sent him a letter saying he needed a FFL, that shut him down pretty quick. They're lowering the standard, to make anyone selling X number of guns a year, comply with strict and expensive FFL requirements.

Who is "they"?

I've never heard of such a law. It seems there'd have to be some kind of law on the books driving such a letter. I've been all over the BATFE's website and have never seen anything stating anything relative to the number of firearms one can purchase. If someone knows of this law/rule/etc., please put up a link. I'd like to send out the link to a lot of buddies.

Thanks,

I don't know what the number is but I'm sure there is a number,
I don't know of any specific rule but I did see the letter, "they" was definitely the BATF.

In this case the local town officials were out to get this guy as he always caused them a rash and a s!@# with many of the town's rules and regs. running tag sales everyday and selling lawn equipment out of his yard, as well as guns on the side. So they sent a letter to BATF for clarification and it came back that they would consider him a dealer and would require him to get licensed.

I only mentioned this cause you referred to buying a "boat load" of guns. And since you haven't gotten an explanation for the delay, it's just a thought that some human may of had to intervene and give it a second look? I'm only floating this as a possibility.
