JD4010 John Deere
Matching 4010s
Model Year: 1963

We have "his" and "hers" matching 4010 gas tractors that we use for tractor drives, plowing, disking, chopping corn stalks, and a few "fun pulls". Both tractors are easy to drive, comfortable, and reliable. For 50 year old tractors they have every feature a person needs to still farm with them.

Pros: Cost per horsepower is low. Well equipped to still farm with.
Cons: Not a diesel.

JD4010 John Deere
John Deere 4010 85 hp, Diesel
Model Year: 1963

Great tractor for general all around use. I own 10 acres in E. Texas, and my JD can do, and has done everything I want it to do. It has a front end loader attachment, and I have a hay fork attachment to go with the bucket. Big enough to do plowing and stump busting work, yet small enough to get in and out of tight places. Built like a tank, and performs great No issues with maintenance, and parts are readily available at the JD dealer.

Pros: Great all-around tractor for the small farm or ranch.
Cons: Too big and too heavy to load onto a 16' utility trailer.
