JD115 John Deere
Cutting Grass!
Model Year: 2006

Well Aloha, All of you grass cutters. This is my 2nd John Deere that I have had in over 25 years of mowing grass. I had a STX 38 Machine that was just great, I gave it to a close friend. It was my birthday, so I felt that I deserved a new one. It is bigger plus it is an automatic. I have had no problems with it for over 7 years, 19 horse power is all that I need. Praise the Lord.

Pros: Great!
Cons: None.

Backfiring Deere
Model Year: 2010

The engine began surging with only 12 hours on it. I was told by the repairman that the carb had dirt in it, and there was dirt in the gas tank. So, I had the carb and the tank cleaned. Why doesn't the fuel filter keep the dirt out of the carb? So, now it starts and runs well, although very noisily, and every time the engine is warm and I turn it off, it backfires one time within 5 seconds. Other than that minor inconvenience and the worry that the thing might blow up every time I turn it off, I am pleased. It starts quickly and mows well. Of course, the grass chute clogs up if there's any kind of dew on the grass.

Pros: Quick start, very pretty, mows well.
Cons: Loud, backfies, & cannot run it over dirt.

JD115 John Deere
LA115- nice little Deere
Model Year: 2009

I had an older Toro that only lasted a few seasons, so after a few years of push mowers, I thought I would get another riding mower. This time, I went with the Deere LA-115. There is a world of difference; I love it! The Deere makes a clean cut, the mower deck is stable, so there is no buzz cut lower when you round a corner. My previous mower couldn't make a corner without the mower deck tilting. The battery didn't last very long, but aside from that, it starts dependably, runs easily, comfortable seat. The auto transmission is smooth, although I do wish the foot controls were bigger pads; I want a real pedal, not a mini one. To be fair, the deck is too small for a full size one, but I want one anyway. The only problem I have is the seat needs to be adjustable. There is not much room between the seat and the wheel, when you have to step over the mower deck to get on. I have to be careful so I don't knock my knees.

Pros: Dependable, sturdy
Cons: Needs adjustable seat
