DK551 Daedong
DK551C = Good
Model Year: 2011

Bought a DK551C a year ago after buying an old farm that needed a good clean up. I put it straight to work right out of the box and didn't baby it at all, I did actually feel sorry for it at times. Got 50 hrs up very quickly just using a flail mower (mulch mower). Poor thing had a baptism of fire! I decided on Daedong/Kioti after looking around at most of the known brands and seeing the extras included as standard in a Kioti. They also looked very solidly built and the fit and finish looked as good or better than some of the more expensive competition. So homed in on the DK range as it suited the size and hp requirement that I need. I also thought I would get more use out of it having cab model so went with that and glad I did, very nice to spend time in no matter what's happening outside. Only problem I've had was with the 3rd function switch for the FEL 4 in 1 controls. It was a dealer fitted item and was fixed without an issue, they even came back and replaced a headlight that had condensation in it when I mentioned it(probably from when I washed it prior to his visit). 180+ hrs now and running like a Swiss watch. Very happy with it.

Pros: Great way too get things done that would not be possible without it.
Cons: Not enough time to get things done that would not be possible without it!

Very good medium sized unit (we all love our own tractors though). Servicing by suppliers is way overpriced. I've had a couple of Masseys before this tractor and I rate this equally with those. I've heard that some of the bigger Daedong models have had transmission problems and are noisy, even inside the cabin. Loading, moving, unloading and stacking large round bales is no problem with the FEL and apart from haymaking equipment, I've used all sorts of 3pl implements successfully on our farm.

Pros: Lives up to all usage expectations.
Cons: Servicing too expensive.
