Broken feedback rod, replaced stop solenoid, 4 way flashers no longer work. Otherwise no other problems encountered. Would recommend this tractor to anyone.
Pros: Well built tractor. Have run out of traction, but never run out of power.
Cons: Grass catcher attachment is pain to put on and take off.

Great Little Tractor!

My grandfather bought the tractor sometime in 2004 and he just recently bought a new BX25D. So he gave me the 15. It performs all the tasks I ask it to do. Anything from mowing a customers yard to grading my road or a yard and even hanging a deer to gut it. Well built. Electrics could be better and it shakes a lot because its a 2 cylinder. Overall great machine and never letting it go!
Pros: Built Kubota tough. Nice little machine.
Cons: Shakes a lot. Electrics suck.

My grandfather bought the tractor sometime in 2004 and he just recently bought a new BX25D. So he gave me the 15. It performs all the tasks I ask it to do. Anything from mowing a customers yard to grading my road or a yard and even hanging a deer to gut it. Well built. Electrics could be better and it shakes a lot because its a 2 cylinder. Overall great machine and never letting it go!

A Big Step Down

The purchase of this tiny tractor was a major step down (in size only) for me. I had a Ferguson 275 Diesel that I used here on the farm. After a stroke I was not able to farm the land any more and my wife wanted a simple lawn mower. The Kubota BX-1500 is much more than a simple lawn mower and it performs great at everything we ask of it. I use a 48" rotary tiller, a small disk, and a small single bottom plow in our veggie garden. My wife mows 2 acres of grass and loves it.
Pros: Tiny.
Cons: Tiny.

The purchase of this tiny tractor was a major step down (in size only) for me. I had a Ferguson 275 Diesel that I used here on the farm. The Kubota BX-1500 is much more than a simple lawn mower and it performs great at everything we ask of it. I use a 48" rotary tiller, a small disk, and a small single bottom plow in our veggie garden. My wife mows 2 acres of grass and loves it.

I have owned and used all and I mean all American brand tractors in this size. I do not take opinion without lived with others.
Pros: In conjunction with an excellent dealer and service dept. there is no better brand.

Mostly Dependable and Tough

I've had the tractor for over 8 years and worked it hard the first 4 years while landscaping the yard and removing a corral on the property. I snapped off the steering pivot stop the first year I had it so have been careful not to over steer when turning. You learn quickly to keep the load in the bucket as low to the ground as possible for stability. I have a front bucket and a 5' blade on back, and added a PHD (post hole digger) accessory which I used to remove the railroad ties used as posts from the corral. This really tested the capabilities of the tractor, but with enough time, I was able to complete the job. The tractor was very dependable once it was running. In the 8 years of ownership, I have replaced the hour meter and just added a low voltage relay on the starter circuitry because for the last 2 years the tractor was very temperamental when starting. The solution to install the relay was found here at the TractorByNet website. Thanks. So far the relay solution has solved the problem. The tractor is always stored indoors. I would recommend this tractor.
Pros: Once running is very dependable and performs exceptionally well.
Cons: Electrical starting problems.

Great Little Tractor

I bought this tractor with the 54" belly mower and a 5' woods blade for the 3 point thinking I was going to mow and move snow. I then purchased the FEL to move 20 dump truck loads of fill dirt. This tractor is amazing for its size, it has done everything I have asked it to do.
Pros: Fuel useage.
Cons: We always wish we had a bigger tractor.

The Mighty BX 1500

The BX1500 is the smallest compact BX for its size the BX1500 has been my garden tiller dirt mover, brush mower.. The weight of the tractor will still let you maintain your yard without causing ruts. The FEL was great for land scape duties, hauling rock and moving dirt. The BX1500 is a great machine if you are looking to step up from the normal garden tractor, but don't let the size fool you it packs a lot of power for the size.
Pros: Compact size 4x4, three point, & a 54 inch mower deck.
Cons: 2cyl. diesel shakes; harder starts in the winter.

2004 Kubota BX1500

Nice tractor. The 15hp diesel is a great little engine and the tractor has done everything I've asked of it. I mow, use a 5ft back blade, a homebuilt 4ft landscape rake, a homebuilt 4ft dethatcher, and use the LA181 loader to clear our 150' asphalt driveway in the winter. Also use for light landscaping around the house. Although the 15hp has gotten everything done I have had to push it at times. If I had it to do over again I would go w/ at least a 20hp tractor for my needs. If you only mow and do light loader work then it's a great tractor.

Cons: 15hp is a little light for anything other than mowing/light loader work

BX 1500 As Snow remover

Bought the 1500 with main purpose of blowing snow (Northern NH). Fit and finish of the machine are great (but that's what I expected). I wish I had bought a larger tractor because the 1500 just doesn't have quite enough oomph to properly power the 48 inch (2850)snowblower. For powder snow, no problem at all, however the spring snows bog it down quite a bit (not talking about slush here cause nothing works on slush except a blade). I added a back box on the 3 point to carry a salt/sand mix to spread as well as to give a bit more weight on the rear wheels. Other than that it cuts grass well, hauls stuff around that needs hauling etc... I do not have a front loader on it.

BX 15000 Beast

I have been unmerciful to this tractor and it has been a great tool. Three issues emerged. The instrument clusters and switches are susceptible to dust. The front axle pivot seals wore out early. It was clearly a design problem but. The metal hydraulic lines rubbed and wore through near the front axle and another hose ruptured on the front end loader. Also the design of the electrical system is such that if the ground gets interrupted during operation there is no way to shut the engine down. Not good.
Pros: Reliable engine and attachments. .
Cons: Front axel pivot not a good design. Hoses are too close to moving components. Electrical ground design is poor.

BX1500 Good Value in small package

I have used the loader and box blade on a Kubota BX1500 to landscape a small acreage in the foot hills of the Rockies. Have moved about 800 tons of rock, sand, soil and mulch. At times, it felt like using a teaspoon, but there really wasn't room to use a much larger machine, and I'm retired, so time wasn't that critical an issue. It sips fuel - can work all day on five gallons. Maintenance is easy and repair only needed once on electrical system. The hydrostatic drive is ideal for the back-and-forth involved in moving mounds of stuff. Only two issues on the negative side. Most important is safety when the bucket is loaded. The small front tires make it very unstable, so even being very cautious, I got close to the tipping point more than once. Filling the tires helped with stability as well as with traction. (Dropping the bucket immediately stabilizes it - if you have ground in front of you.) The second negative depends upon your task. A quarter-inching valve would be a great thing to have for scraping roads, tilling, moving snow, etc. It wasn't available on subcompacts when I got mine. It might be now. If you can get it, do it. The BX1500 isn't made any more. The BX1850 has three cylinders rather than two, but otherwise is very similar in capabilities.
