B1700 Kubota
Workhorse
Model Year: 1995

We could not live here without this utterly dependable, versatile and powerful friend. I have adapted a backhoe, bought a tiller, built a number of helper attachments, and then proceeded to abuse this little orange sweetheart almost daily. Other than careful maintenance, no other issues have come up. Starts flawlessly from -40F. to +30F. More power would be nice, but this thing is sufficient as is. We are in love with it!

Pros: Utterly reliable and easy to operate.
Cons: Costly parts.

Have used the tractor very little so far other than plow snow. Already have an issue with the 3 point hitch which stopped working.

Pros: Seems fuel efficient and lots of torque.
Cons: 3-point hitch not working.

Bought This Used, With Belly Mower, Fertilizer Spreader, Box Blade
Model Year: 1996

Great little tractor. 4WD, diesel, HST...can't be beat. This little tractor has done everything I have asked of it. Servicing seems simple. Keep it well greased and it will just keep going.

Pros: Durable, plenty of power.
Cons: None that I have found.

Was a little worried about the size, but it has done nothing but surprise me, of course a bigger tractor would be better but I couldn't afford bigger. Very happy. Had 320 hrs. when I bought it, now has 510.

Pros: Workhorse.
Cons: Wish bucket was bigger.

B1700 Kubota
Tiny Kobota Worth It's Weight
Model Year: 1988

This little tractor with snow blade or tiller can drive under a 6'6" door (6' wide with the snow blade) The 20HP is great for cleaning out small barns :) Beats a wheelbarrow every day. With love, it starts at -20C and will clear a Kilometer of driveway of snow... faster than a shovel!

Pros: Small.
Cons: Too small.

Great Investment
Model Year: 0

This was a great choice of compact tractor and came with a front end loader and also a bush hog, which I've not as yet used. I unhooked it and bought a backhoe for it and have used that combo for the last 2 years. The tractor itself has only blown 3 hydraulic hoses in the work that I've made it do. The backhoe (a different manufacturer...Wallenstein) was a disaster and came with poor hydraulic hoses that didn't stand up to much,(and not overworked), so not a Kubota issue. This year we moved 15 Tons of gravel/screening and even got it to do sod lifting using the front end loader edge from a parking pad that we made out back to park the various utilities on. That was a 544 Sq Ft pad and it was a tedious job, the one that finally blew the 2 small front end loader lift controls at the very end of the project. I highly recommend the Kubota product it more than met my expectations over the last 3 to 4 years. This year really tested it's metal! I've been thoroughly impressed!

Pros: All is good! Strong, quiet in operation and very reliable.
Cons: None.

B1700 Kubota
2 Acres in BC North
Model Year: 1995

I bought this unit to help with all the chores required to be self-sufficient. The only problem is that we are close to totally dependent on this little workhorse. It plows snow, rototillers the large garden, carries anything, landscapes, raises walls, digs ditches, and any thing else I can think of trying. A little more power would be nice, but not really necessary.

Pros: Very adaptable.
Cons: Power a little short.

This is a fun tractor for a small property. I use it in winter for snow and summer for "brush hog" and loader garden work. I love my Kubota.

Pros: Convenient size.
Cons: Limited capabilities but fun.

Tough Little Workhorse
Model Year: 0

Bought this summer as we bought a small acreage that needed attention. This machine has no problem turning a 60 inch rough cut mower, a 54 inch rotovator, 72 inch blade and 60 inch snowblower. Machine looks small but packs a lot of punch, very impressed.

Pros: Lugging power.
Cons: HST reverse pedal too small.

Tractor Life
Model Year: 1995

I'm 88 years old now and the Kubota B1700 will out last me as it has never failed to start or give me any trouble. I don't like the newer ones as they have to much plastic on them now.

Pros: The dealership has changed hands 3 times in the last 5 years.
Cons: You don't need too many parts. Just the filters and oil.

Quick Review as per asked. A cute inexpensive and reliable "lawn" tractor that, when pushed, is capable of doing some real work. I certainly do not recommend pushing this tractor too hard as it's lifting capacity is light (several hundred pounds), but it's carrying capacity is limited by it's weight. I found buckets in excess of 500lbs where.... tipsy... ish.

Pros: Industructable.
Cons: Parts are not free.

A Solid Used Tractor
Model Year: 1998

This is my first tractor. I have 16 acres, 10 of which are wooded. I was looking for a machine that was easy to operate and not too big, so my wife could use it. A new Kubota was over 15k; I bought this one for $6,700. I immediately had it serviced by my local Kubota dealer and the machine is running strong. It has a FEL and I purchased a Befco 42" rotary mower, which is perfect for hitting high brush or cutting trails through the woods. Really enjoying it so far.

Pros: Reliable, easy to operate.
Cons: No HST.

Model Year: 1996

This little tractor operates a FEL, back hoe, rear mount snow blower, 5" Bearcat Chipper and rear scraper blade. Other than fluid changes and filter replacements it has required no maintenance during the 12 years I've owned it since purchasing it new. Real solid little machine.

Pros: Build quality
Cons: Single hydraulic pump make power steering difficult when FEL bucket is loaded.
