Did I buy the prototype tractor???

PTO shaft hole lost its teeth while running a small square baler. Once in the shop we took the rear-end plate off and discovered the main bearing coming in from the transmission was coming apart. Seemed like the tractor was nickel and diming me to death. Over 7 years the repair cost averaged $7.06 per hour on this tractor. It was the deluxe model with air seat, corner exhaust, and optional hyd pump. I really liked the tractor but the repair bills just kept coming in. Never seemed low on power for sure. Replaced by a new 6430 Premium.

Pros: fuel economy, had optional fast hyd pump, PTO hp 125 tested.
Cons: every year it seemed to go to JD shop.

Pros: Confidence.
Cons: Not at all.

6400 John Deere
Model Year: 1993

4x4, loader (640) with cab, and the 4 speed powershift trans. The most outstanding feature of this tractor is the fuel economy. Plenty of power for a barn yard tractor. Had a few switches and relays go bad, but was a easy fix.

Pros: Economic to run.
Cons: 1st new series. A few electonic miscues.
