Save your old 5 gallon hydraulic fluid buckets. I never really had a good way to get rid of used oil. I have a co-worker who farms part time, so I snagged one of his empty 5 gallon buckets. The ones that have a spout that pops up are the best. They seal up well with a cap and a funnel sits in that spout well for dumping in used oil.

Good tip. I use my empty 2.5 gallon herbicide containers for the same purpose.

why not take your used oil to and auto part store like Advanced Auto they recycle oil for free.

I think they use the buckets to transport the oil...I know that is what I use to carry my oil to the auto parts store.

2.5 works fine for most gas engines, but the 5 gallon ones work really good for the diesel engines that hold 3.5 gallons of oil. I do an oil change straight into the 5 gallon bucket, then change the oil in both cars and the bucket is full. Which reminds me, oil change is coming up on the p/u, might be a good thing to do today since I am off.

Same buckets with the lid and spout make excellent chicken water.
