Thinking about buying a JD 2320 or 2520.
Leaning toward 2520 for an additional 2 Grand +/-.
Will mow about 4 acres and raise large garden.
Your thought on weakness or advantage on both Please.

Well, if you think you could be frustrated by the tractor bogging down when mowing thick grass or even moderate grass and going slightly uphill, then I'd say get at least the 2520.

I bought a 2320 new in late 2009 and traded it on a 3720 cab in late 2010. The main incentive for dispensing with the 2320 was lack of power when mowing with the 62" MMM or slashing with a 4 foot bush hog.

Another major improvement I've noticed is that the radiator grille doesn't seem to get as clogged with dry grass etc on the 3720 as the 2320, so I don't have to stop and clear it anywhere near as often to prevent overheating.

Cheers
Tony

When I bought my 2320, it would have only cost an additional $1500 to move up to the 2520. I think the 2520 is really the best value for many (most?) people.

Why did I get the 2320? I bought it a lot for mowing a level lawn and I like being 200 pounds lighter on the grass. Except for the first time I used it (seriously overgrown lawn) I mow in high range at essentially top speed. I've done some grading, a lot of snow plowing etc and I have no complaints.

The 2520 is sized much like the 2320 but the engine and hydraulics seem to be much better. The engine not only has 2 more HP, it runs slower which should make for a longer life if you use the tractor a lot. As I understand it, it also has more advanced injection which may improve fuel economy.

All that said, I've never felt the 2320 has come up short and it's done everything I asked.

Thanks to both you guys. I think I must agree that the 2520 will handle everything with less strain on the machine and operator.
