I have a tractor project, and I need a high quality toggle switch for my dash. But the switch needs to fit into a 17 mm hole in the dash, and fit a wiring harness that can accept spades that are 9 mm apart.

I've looked for an hour and can't find anything.

Thanks in Advance!

1. Use a washer.

2. Make your own harness.

It's difficult to answer without knowing/seeing the application. Common toggle switches have a 1/2" mount (~13mm). Some are available with a rubber sleeve to make them weather "resistant". Then there's Single Pole Single Throw (SPST), Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT), Double Pole Single Throw (DPST) and Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT). Double throw switches are available in Center-Off or Maintained. Maintained means a circuit remains on with the switch in either throw.

I'm not sure I'd use a rubber washer to take up the 17mm hole. The switch would have a soft/loose feel as the rubber flexed. The switches are typically held in place by a small nut and/or a knurled nut in the case of the weather sleeve. I'd use a couple of thin steel washers, painted if necessary.

More details and/or pictures of your "Custom" modification would help a lot.

Just to stir your thoughts, switches can also be push button, push-pull or rotational. :giggle:

When I needed to but a smaller switch into a larger hole I used two fender washers, one on each side of the dash. I had enough threads on my switch to go that distance.

This is the switch I'm using. The threads are at 14mm, and the hole is 17mm. I don't have alot to make up. But I'm realizing I can't fit this. The clearance behind the hole is too small. I was hoping to get a marine grade switch, but my clearance inbthe back would very tough. Would I need a marine grade switch Thoughts? I snowblow and will use the machine in light rains. Thoughts?
