I did not think rainbows could happen without strong sunlight. This was a one of a kind. Just a phone pic because I had no time.

Sometimes there's a hole in the clouds that the observer cannot see behind them.

I recall years ago I took my father in-law out to pick up some pizzas for the family. We saw something very similar. Rainbow with no visible sunlight at our location, and very dark clouds behind it. We were heading east. After we picked up the pizzas, we headed west. As we were driving along with the rainbow behind us, a slit opened up in the western sky and about blinded us. It lit up all the trees with the dramatic black sky behind us. My father in-law got tears in his eyes because he said he never saw anything so beautiful.

I just got these I'm planting in the front yard in a spot. We added more so probably 65,000+ seeds.
I hope they all germimat...gernama...germanate.......all come up.

We've got a couple areas in our yard where we occasionally till over and throw in packs like that. A little water now and then and they almost always make a nice surprise with little effort.

Today I worked up the ground for the sunflower patch. A good acre.
Disked one way twice, once across and then again the original direction.
Usually this activity brings out swarms of birds.
Today couple Robins, 3-4 blackbirds and a pair of Cow Birds.
I like watching them as they jockey for the freshest grubs and worms. It's neat to see the Cow Birds stacking the small white grubs in their beaks.
But where did everyone go. There wasn't 10% of what usually shows up and not a single Sea Gull.

Easy! Why you son of a biscuit eater!!!!!
After breaking two hoes and a maddock I got out my tiller...the one I forgot I had that hasn't been used in over 20 years. The gas in it turned to brown goop...so tank off, clean, sandblast inside, clean x10. Then carburetor rebuild & plug. Real gas, oil & it ran...actually well after adjustments.
Then I picked a corner far enough away from fence where goats can't reach flowers. Then I tilled around & around until tiller was buried up to the motor deck. Then picked up all the rocks & lanscape rake getting many wheelbarrow loads of sod. Then raked smooth.
Wife walks down saying as my usual overdoing things. While there I had her walk on my back to get vertebrae all back straight.
I planted by instructions which did 1/3rd of the plot. I'm thinking the rest I could actually plant FOOD!
Now if it'll just rain & birds dont eat seeds!

Went for a day hike yesterday to Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls. Some people like to talk bad about California but it sure is nice having Yosemite in my backyard.
