Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum. I have a question. I used the seach button and have researched alot of threads, but need more info.
I have a 226d, and it will not move only in second gear, even in all three ranges.
Reverse, first, and third work fine. I took the top of the tranmission off and look at the mechanism that switches the gears, it seems fine, nothing is broken.
I also looked at what I think is the delay relief springs, There is a large spring and then a smaller spring inside the large spring. I don't understand what exactly these springs do or how they work, but perhaps they expand or contract under hydraulic pressure, at any rate they both seem fine.
It appears to me that when you switch gears, this moves a rod that has a hole through it, the rod slides into different slots and drives the fuild to different ports.
I don't have any experience with the clutch packs, but I understand that if 3rd and 2nd use the same pack, so if 3rd works, so should second? Can anyone confirm this is true?
I have not yet replaced the fluid, nor cleaned the screen, but will soon.
I was hoping that someone who knew the power shift transmission could explain how it works, how many clutch packs there are, and which packs control which gears.
While I was using it today, after about an hour, It would not work in any gear, after a few minutes, it began working again in all but second, does this sound like the clutch packs, or perhaps I simply need to change the fluid, filter and clean the screen?
