Hello all. Although the majority of the box was completed last spring, I just got around to finishing the last part of it (the shovel/sledge/axe/etc. holder). I have room in the box for my 25" sthil 390 chain saw, so there is no need for a separate scabbard. I have a magnetic led dome light (not pictured) for the lid of the box to find things at night. Some of you may remember/ recognize this from my original post titled "ballast box pre pour-am I missing anything?" Given the color; I am tempted to paint those diagonal black strips you see some highway construction trucks, or just paint a really big smiley face on it. I do not remember the (calculated) weight but I believe it is north of 1400lbs (empty).

Nah, just a $100, and a lucky find on C/l.

Thanks for the PM to this link Disney. First class box! I have needed one for a couple years but am just now getting around to building one. I also went with a job site tool box with mine welded on a donor 3PH fork from a friend. I decided to just build the weight box with additional internal storage and no tool hangers, as I have already outfitted my tractor with storage tubes for everything else I need to store/carry.

Mine is still a work in progress and hope to complete in a couple weeks, weather permitting. I am going to initially load mine up with dry bags of concrete and test for max FEL usage vs. empty FEL tractor handling. Starting test weight will be ~ 1000#. My 710# ROBB is not near enough weight.

- What is the eye bolt(s) in the concrete used for, tie down?
- What tractor is this used behind where 1400#+ is the proper weight? I may need to purchase more bags of concrete for testing before they are mixed for final.
- How is the receiver tube used with no apparent way to pin on a ball mount?
- Any internal bracing for the 2" receiver tube? I have a 36" long tube that will extend out the back of the box and be welded to the bottom horizontal brace of the fork frame. And planning on welding a couple pieces of angle perpendicular on the tube to add more resistance/support in the concrete, along with some vertical support at the front of the tube inside the box. Comments?

- What is the eye bolt(s) in the concrete used for, tie down? ***yes***
- What tractor is this used behind where 1400#+ is the proper weight? ***deere 110 tlb; I am really light in the rear when at max lift (even when just above the ground), so I really need to add more.*** I may need to purchase more bags of concrete for testing before they are mixed for final. ***cant answer that, but I am learning/thinking that you can only go too heavy if the front gets light, when bucket empty (or changing from bucket to forks)***
- How is the receiver tube used with no apparent way to pin on a ball mount?
***look at the rear corner near the bottom, I have a pin welded to a long handle***

This link may help with the tube question. I didnt want it to hang out the 6+/- inches to get to the pin, as my shin would always be finding it.

Ballast box pre-pour, am I missing anything?
