Ooooooh, NICE trials bike!

Did a little (very little, and poorly at that...) amateur trials riding in Japan. Just club stuff at the MC club on the base. 99% of the problem was the rider, but riding trials on a basically stock Yamaha CT175 (little brother of the DT) didn't help a lot.

The Japanese factory riders that showed up as guests at one of our events were amazing! They were just playing with our courses and doing demonstrations for us, all in the name of Japanese/American relations.

Grew up riding trails watching trials and enduros. There was big club trail riding in this area. Local shop owner was well known along with some others. One friend and his brother had two Bultacos to ride, a little red Sherpa trials and a bigger blue Alpina 350. I still remember them well. Another guy had a Suzuki PE. I only had a the Suzuki DS model. I bought it new was like $300 cheaper than PE at the time, a lot of money then. Always liked the PE a lot though. Others guys had Ossa's, one a Honda MR, another guy a Honda MT Elsinore, and some had new 4 stroke XL's. My younger brother had an Yamaha IT 175 later on. I still have the SK metric socket set he had bought when he owned that bike!

Some years back I brought a Suzuki RL back to life for a neighbor so his kid could ride. Had some serious abuse. Neighbor's kid kicked it over while I had the plug out and my back was turned (I went to get a wrench). I heard him yell he lit the mixture off right off the head. Scared himself real good too! Luckily nothing more happened. I had a fire extinguisher ready though, those older steel tanks always leaked didn't they. I remember the PE and IT had plastic by then.
