Tractor
Kubota B2920, Kubota BX2660
Don't ask how, but we own both of these Kubota models. We need to do the following chores:

1. Mow the lawn (using the BX2660 for this)
2. Drag a 70x110 indoor equine arena (have a 5.5', 400lb dedicated drag for this using B2920)
3. Brush hog 3-4 acres of pasture (have a dedicated 48 in brush hog for this using B2920)
4. Moving dirt/gravel/snow/manure (have an LA364 on the B2920)

All indications are that I need both, if only because I need the BX2660 at present for 1acre lawn mowing duty over hills and tree obstacles. I really do need the bigger more capable B series for pasture and arena maintenance. Is there a mower attachment, either RFM or MMM that I could connect to the B2920 to do basic lawn mowing, or would my better bet be to just sell the BX2660 and get a ZTM?

First post BTW so be nice :)

The B2920 has (or can have) a mid PTO, so it should be able to handle a mid mount mower or a rear mower.
On the other hand, its nice to have a separate machine to to a trailer that you are filling with the loader...

First of all welcome!

Sell the BX. Get a small quality zero turn like a John Deere Z445 or Huster/ExMark,etc equivalent.

You'll mow the lawn in half the time. Just one question. How hilly is it really? Zeros don't like really steep hills.

There are two (and really one) steep grade of probably 60 degrees (guessing) that is all of 12 feet long. The other is far more gradual. Believe it or not, I take that hill going down now with the BX, but I guess I am a bit fearless. My wife just shakes her head and says "not me, ever". I had a Ferris 1500ZTM that ended up part of a house sale and I do miss it, although the BX does pretty well for what it is. My wife bought that while we were separated for 3 years and I bought the B series which is how we got here. It just seems stupid to have two tractors like this when the B will handle 90% of what we need.

I don't need the equivalent of a Ferris I don't think -- or it's $6k price tag. I'd like something that will last (we are in our mid 50s) but it doesn't have to survive all out nuclear war either. Where do those ZTMs sit price wise, if I may ask?

And thanks for the welcome!

You can get a JD Z425 for around $3800. It will last u a long time at 1 acre. Just keep it off that steep hill!

I had a BX that served me faithfully for years. I bought a ZTR mower, and the next year traded the BX for a B2620. I am convinced this is the way to go, at least for me...although I keep thinking how nice another tractor would be, so 2 implements could be hooked up at the same time....

Kubota has a less expensive gas zero turn, if your determined to get a zero turn. I have F model Kubotas, tried a zero turn last year and I don't care for them.
I've owned a couple of rear finish mowers and really liked them. Easy to attach, detach and service and less expensive than MMM. My first one was a cheap brand ($1300) and my land isn't lawn smooth so it broke a few times. Got a Landpride ($1750) and it was a tank and never had a problem with it. They mow good and basic down side is the length of your tractor with it mounted which you will already know about since you already have the tractor and a bush hog so you can determine with actual hands on experience what you'll have. May need a weed eater or small push lawn mower for really tight places. Zeros are not for any thing steep.

After really thinking this through, I think we'll just keep both the BX2660 and B2920 tractors. Already have them anyway, but just miss my ZTM some days. That said, an additional 3PH and PTO drive machine can be handy at other times, like perhaps a mini tiller to do a small garden.

On another note, the BX had a small accident where the bonnet got cracked and the left headlight broken. Further inspection revealed the the underlying black plastic headlight holder assembly is broken. I figure to fix this myself as it looks pretty straight forward. Anyone have any similar experience that could tell me if I'll need more than just a new headlight and headlight holder assembly -- assuming that is all that is actually broken, of course?
