Hello TBNers!

I know many of you are pruning your gardens and bringing in various crops this time of year, so I'm curious, what is your fall harvest this year? I'd include your hunting and fishing "harvest" as well. ;)

Also, how do you use it? Does your garden contribute to your holiday meals? Do you sell what you produce? Save it/store it?

Deer Bear and turkey for meat, apples for fruit, already have beans, tomatoes and pumpkin canned. we store it and use it not just holidays but everyday. the hunting is always a big if, success means little if any meat bought at the store if not then we buy.

Wow, sounds like you can be fairly self sufficient most of the time! I assume you grow other crops throughout the year?

Harvested the last of my pepper crop a few days ago...what I don't give away to friends and neighbors and family, I freeze or dry to preserve. This was a so-so year for most veggie crops in Michigan this year and a terrible one for tree fruits (frost ruined crop) but for peppers...ideal. Pics show about 10% of my total green pepper harvest for this year, about a quarter of my sweet/spicy mini bells, and a third of the cayenne peppers.
One pic shows most of the last harvest of red/green mini bells ready for freezing.

Through the summer I usually get most of my vegetables from the garden. Right now all I have left are potates, carrots, cabbage and brussel sprouts. I raised a pig last year; this year I'm pahinv zomeone to raise another. hope to do that again next year. I just picked up afew hens that are l starting to lay, I have sold a couple dozen eggs.
Tonight's supper is fresh ruffed grouse with mashed potatoes, carrots and onions.

may I ask why you are not raising the pig yourself?

Nice. Peppers didn't do that well for me thos year, but I don't beleive we got the rain and cooler weather that you did out there.

You need to feed them twice a day... my job requires me tp sometimes be away for days at a time.

Even though we have a short growing season up here in northern Maine, the Lord has blessed us with a bounty of produce. We have 100 lb. potatoes, numerous squash(buttercup & acorn), pumpkins, tomatoes(canned & some still ripening inside),beets, onions, beans, peppers, swiss chard, and more. Deer season starts Saturday,so praying God will send one our way. Will be planting garlic soon.
