What\'s At Wally\'s And Who Really Makes It, You Say

Here is one way to find out: http://msds.walmartstores.com/

Using the above link, I was able to find out who makes Wal Mart Super Tech oil. Then by researching that site, I was able to find a complete spec sheet for the product I was interested in.

I thought others might find this of interest. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: What\'s At Wally\'s And Who Really Makes It, You Say

Everyday, I learn that Big Box Mart has prices that are great and products that are inferior! I bought a Linksys router the other day, thought it was a good deal. Darn thing was out of date, and I couldn't get it to work. I went to Best Buy, paid 2 dollars more, and got an up-to-date product that worked out of the box and it was never opened!

I avoid that place as much as possible now. Deals are not that great on food either. Sale prices at other grocery stores usually beat them out.

Sorry for the rant, I am still upset about two trips to that place for nothing.

Re: What\'s At Wally\'s And Who Really Makes It, You Say

Just listened yesterday to a piece about WallyWord.
According to the reporter, some odd things they do:
Corporate offices do not have longdistance service. When they call a vendor, the vendor has to accept WallyWorld's collect calls, or no orders. Part of the cost of doing business with them.

Their corporate people who travel are encouraged to take all the pens and scratch pads that they can from motels and such and bring them back to the office so that they don't have to buy any.

Frugal is one thing, but what I heard makes me want to try not to trade there.

It is amazing what you can hear and how much of it is a down right lie.

"Most of what we do is driven by the fact that we make 3 cents on the dollar." [Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott] said. "As we travel, we ask our employees to take the ink pens from the hotel and use them at work."

Mike,
There is tons of stuff written about WM and quite frankly most of it ranges from silly to totally ludicrous. I know many, many people that work at the store level as well as in the home office. The people range from cart pushers to a past VP. There are many things that I don't like that WM does and don't agree with, but they are made out to be a lot worse in 99% of the cases than they actually are. Just because they are big, one person will start saying something that they don't know anything about and then every time that it is told, it gets bigger and worse. Most started as roomers and that is one think that I try not to participate in. If anyone here want to, it is up to him or her. All it will do is make them look silly to those that really know what they are talking about.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. As Mark Twain said, "A lie can make it halfway around the world before the truth can get its shoes on".
But I made up my mind about them several years ago, and seldom buy anything there. If 5% of what one hears about them is true, it is a place I don't want to frequent. Things seem to be getting worse for them, with a lot of things ending up in court. Prosecutors don't usually get too far on rumors. Lotsa smoke. Fire? I dunno. Maybe.

Re: What\'s At Wally\'s And Who Really Makes It, You Say

I know there are a lot of brands out there and years ago oil from Pennsylvania was considered the best. However working at the Exxon refinery in Baytown I found out that 40% of all lubestocks in the United States were produced by Exxon either in Baytown or Baton Rouge. There were a lot of different brands around including Penzoil, Ford and a lot of others, all at our location. The different brands had their own additive package so the oils were not the same, but came from the same base oil. This was about 15 years ago. Personally, I am a big synthetic fan and have used it for a number of years. I have used Royal Purple, Castrol, and now Mobil One. Kind of brand loyalty I guess. So much for my contribution to the oil debate.
