What kind of "paint" did you use that can stand up to those kinds of temps?

High Heat flat black paint for exhaust components. Kubota gray for air inlet/outlet tubes.

Given you are probably only running a few psi, it's probably no big deal cooling or not. Just has more "pizzaz" to be able to brag about your intercooled turbo Kubota. Not that you need to top having a turbo in the first place, especially when you can always let it drop "oh yeah, I designed and built it myself from some spare parts that were lying around....".

Didn't know there was such a thing. All I knew about was ceramic coating. How much heat can this paint see?

Below are a couple pics of the pyrometer install. First one is the bung welded in the exhaust pipe before the turbo, second one is the gauge mounted in the cab. I didn't want to cut the dash so I made my own bezel out of sheetmetal and painted it and the back of the pyrometer Kubota gray. The pyrometer measures Exhaust Gas Tempature (EGT). In a turbo diesel you don't want to exceed 1100 to 1200 degree's or you can melt the engine. Under light load it barely registered over 250 degree's ( the lowest the gauge goes) Under medium load it rose up around 500 degree's. I took it out to the field in in about 2 feet of wet heavy snow and ran the heck out of it in real tight turns wheels spinning for about 10 minutes straight to simulate heavy load, it ran up to 875 degree's and stayed there. All tests were done in 4wd to create drag.

So everything is well w/i spec. I am going to leave the pump alone, it's running strong and I don't want unburnt fuel raising the EGT. It is interesting how the EGT goes up and down under load and off load. I am glad I got the pyrometer for the peace of mind.:) :)
