Sorry to bump an old thread but are there any updates on Kaufman? They actually have an A+ rating on the BBB now. I'm not sure if this is from them making changes or if the old complaints have simply expired. I'm looking for a 16' gooseneck 7ton dump trailer. Nothing is hardly manufactured in Florida so its hard to find a decent trailer without a pule of freight added on. I'm looking at Load Trail, PJ and Big Tex in that order. I'm going to be using it for odd jibs around the ranch so not daily trips like a roofer or contractor. Since I won't be using it that much, its hard to pay an extra $1,000 for the PJ over the Load Trail.

I just bought a 2013 Kaufman 24' deck over. My only complaint is the hopping. I know it's the tires. So I'll change them. Other than that it's great. If I were to buy new from them the upgrade to better tires is not much.

If its budd type wheels it's never going to be perfect. I would have them balanced, it makes a huge difference.

They are normal steel wheels.

I have an 18' Anderson I've been pretty happy with. Only maintenance in 10 years has been greasing the wheel bearings and recently replaced all the tires and wheels. It did pinch one of the brake wires into at a young age and the dealer fixed it under warranty. The other side broke out of warranty so I repaired that but it was a 10 minute fix.

Can't complain about my #7000lb dual axle Carmate, bought new in 1999. Over the years driven both local roads and interstate with it. Been good solid trailer, and seriously well built. Constantly haul different tractors around a 4100 and 4320, plus moved multiple motorcycles at once (I mounted deck D rings), construction equipment, plants and flowers, compost and mulch, pumpkins and even other trailers with it!

Only thing been tough on is the tail lights they are located pretty low :confused2:

I bought a Kaufman 14' bumper pull dump last year and have been happy with it. Pulls good and is well made seems to me. I did upgrade to General tires over the Chinese. No complaints here. Got spec'd like I wanted with heavier floor metal and couple other things and saved about $2000 over Big-Tex local guys.

I did a little research before I bought my Kaufman. The Chinese tires causing hopping was the biggest complaint I could find. No big deal I bought the trailer used and got a good deal. Even putting new tires on I still got a good deal. The hopping was bad when I put 9,000 lbs on it for about an hour then it was noticeable but not bad. My gooseneck horse trailer has never hopped.
