Got my son-in-law and early Xmas present. A Girsan MC9 with Fiber Optic rear site and Red dot . Hoping he will enjoy it . I think I’m going to sneak out and break it in for him 👍

Just loaded up some test rounds of 308 Win, 150gr Interloks, and Accurate 2495. Really haven't messed with the 308 in a while, since it was shooting like Crap all of the sudden. It occurred to me, I had swapped the Ruger American Predator bottom plastic from factory to the AICS Style mags, and I 'think' that's when accuracy went to he'll. Wondering if I over torqued the action screws maybe, or somehow, applied pressure in a weird way? So I swapped back to factory config. Maybe that will help. I dont have a inch/pound torque wrench, and really probably should pick one up.

If I remember right, it was shooting about 1.5" groups at 100 yards, then the scope Base got loose, retighten, and around same time, upgraded mag well. I had just assumed I did something stupid with scope base, but I couldn't really see what. After those two things; a large domino's pizza box at 100 yards, out of 5 shots; they would be spread out every bit of 8 inches, if not 12 inches. Maybe, just maybe, the actions screws (which need removed during mag well update) were the issue.

BTW, why are 1/4" torque bit drivers more than a 1/2" Tekton torque wrench?

This is probably the best deal going in torque wrenches. I originally bought this for mounting scopes, but I also use it to torque electrical terminations in control panels.

Score today, 2 boxes of primers, small rifle and small pistol. $89 a box, but better than ive seen for a bit, in stock at Cabelas!
I just bought 1000 ct. of Winchester LR primers off Brownells. It's been a looong time since those were available.

Nice tool to have for any gunsmithing , I’ve had one similar for quite a few years. I bought a master set of hex head sockets made by Capri few years back, I’m thinking 60piece. Seem to be excellent quality for the $, made in Taiwan.

I got my .260 Rem back from the gunsmith. Barrel was shortened to 20" and threaded, bolt jeweled and a new butt pad. The timing was perfect as I'm heading to camp tomorrow to top off feeders and haul down a refurbished blind. I'll spend some time sighting it in and then I'll be ready for the start of deer season. It's now a perfect deer rifle, with better balance and length with the suppressor.
That 260rem is a great caliber, about perfect for deer hunting. Had a Tikka chambered in it. I like to think of it as the original 6.5 creedmoor. That and the 7-08 two of my favorite cartridges, both highly efficient for amount of powder used 👍👍

My daughter has a Tikka T3x stainless laminate in .260 Rem. Probably the prettiest and best shooting rifle I've ever handled.

Did some shooting with the RAP 308, 18", and I need a mental check. So, first 3 shots, about 4" left, 2" low. Now, I hate mils; I'm an MOA guy who happens to have a MIL scope on this rifle (wanted to try FFP, and it happened to be MiLs). Move 4 clicks right, 2 clicks up (0.1 mil per click). Now off paper; go back 2 R, 1 D, and now I'm like 3" low, and 5" R. Keep clicking, and the last bit, elv is good, need to move about 2" Left. Move 1 Click Left, and I'm wood L/R, but now I'm 3" Low...

So, it's a pretty off brand West Hunter 4-16×44 FFP. Now, am I crazy to think about mounting a known 1-4×24 LPVO on a 18" bolt gun? I don't have faith in the the scope, but the mounts are good, rail is good. Why would even a cheap scope move Down, when you move left?

Edit: I've sighted in rifles and scopes many times; and I burnt throw about 24 rounds, so I don't Think it operator error, but I've been know to be stupid at times? On bags, pretty stable but not 100% perfect, yes I did allow the rifle to get pretty warm, towards the end, I was pretty frustrated. I know 3" Low at 100 yards, would be fine for shooting deer at 50 yards, but I don't like a gun not shooting well. I also don't want to take my good Athlon 3-18 off my 223, as it's dead on,

I've heard of tapping the scope after making an adjustment. Also heard of going past where you want to be and coming back to it.

I almost always tap mine after resetting the scope! I just tap the adjuster lightly to kind of “set” it.
